That looks great Martha!
I don't have a problem with doing it on facebook, as far as I know you can join a group without letting everyone in the group see your whole profile. Only those who you add as friends can see your peronal stuff!
Yes, that's right. I can't see anyone having a problem with it.
I am anxious to get going here ....
Can everyone live with one of the following, or does someone have a better idea? Once the name is selected on F/B it can't be changed.
Cake Girlz of Ontario
Ontario Cake Girlz
Would anyone who is interested in this Facebook Group, please just send me a PM with your 'real' name so that I can send out the invites through F/B?
Thanks so much. You'll hear back from me later tonight.
Crap - i hate all these double posts. Sorry, but things just freeze and then when i refresh the page I get a double post. No more refreshing.
Here's this week's Michael's coupon for those who haven't got it yet ...

I have been on this site (on and off) for more than a year and now I am just seeing this thread (And I don't even rememebr how I stumbled upon it!!) I am slowly trying to go through all of the pages and I am seeing mention of a F-book group. Has this been started yet? And if so where do I sign up???
Now back to my reading =)
Have a great long weekend my fellow Ontarians!
Yes, the facebook group is up and running. It's called Ontario Cake Girlz. Please PM Martha (info above this post) to let her know you want to join (she needs your facebook name, not your CC name, and to make sure you aren't an advertiser). She is the group admininstrator and will clear you into the group when she hears from you. Welcome! Please join us!

Hi All,
I'm an ex-ontarioian (???) I grew up in Hamilton, lived in Calgary for several years and just recently moved back to the states (I've done that off and on for the past 10 years).
Just before I left Calgary a couple of months ago I had contacted Satin Ice to see if it was available anywhere in Canada and this is the response I got:
Please contact La Gaterie 866-319-0989. You can speak to Levon or Rita.
Thank you for your interest in Satin Ice.
I left a couple weeks after that email so never got a chance to call that #. Maybe one of you could contact them and see what their prices are?
Also, I'm sorry if this # has been posted already, my link is really slow tonight and I gave up after page 5 of this thread.
Have fun and I hope you all get a chance to meet up!!
Hey All - I just requested to join on facebook. My name is Sara and I am from Kitchener Ontario. Its not only frustrating finding a good supplier in Canada, but I only have a Michaels near by. I have to make the 45 minute trip to Mississauga for Golda's Kitchen (which is a really nice store). I also have a thread in here somewhere about getting SPS from a Toronto supplier. I am just waiting for the call to pick up my order!
Thanks for the info xstitcher - I am a huge cross stitcher myself (if that's what your name means).
I am almost two hours from Golda's, so I often order from them on-line. The shipping is reasonable and FAST. I ordered some tubs of Satin Ice last Thursday afternoon, and they were delivered Monday mid-morning (so 1 1/2 business days - they don't deliver on weekends). I do make a road trip there when I can, and my hubby travels for work so he can stop in when he's in the area, which is lucky.
See you on Facebook, saramachen!

Your welcome and yup, that's what it means!!
Got another Michael's coupon for those who aren't receiving them. It's a 50% off one!

This is perfect timing as I have to stock up on a few things! Thanks again.
Here's this week's Michael's coupon. It's valid until Saturday. 40% off.

Hi,
I was just on cakes canada's website and noticed that the above company does indeed sell Satin Ice in Canada. Here's the website in case anyone is interested:
http://www.satinice.ca/
Don't know if you are still looking for the Satin Ice, but the last time I went to Bonnie Gordon School of Cake Design in Toronto (Bathurst & Eglinton) she was selling the coloured Satin Ice. She sells a different brand that she puts her name on for white and chocolate, which by the way I love to use (although my experience is limited).
I love Golda's for Satin Ice too. Just wanted to add to those of you who have posted later replies that there is a Facebook group called Ontario Cake Girlz which some of us have joined. Please have a look if you are on Facebook and haven't read the rest of this thread to hear about it!
Is this thread still alive? I'm in Waterloo and have yet to check out Golda's but I'm thinking I'll have to make a trip next week! Also--did the person looking for Fluffo ever get it? I'm wondering what it's all about!
has anyone used virgin ice from the bulk barn? If so how does it compare to satin ice...
so satin ice is cheaper? is one better then the other for 3d figures? Is there a difference in taste?
Sugardiving, I don't know where you live but if you are anywhere around St. Thomas there is a store there called Scoops and Cakes, they sell Dawn Fondant. It tastes really good and is $33. for 10kg. For figures I use Wilton and buy it with the coupons, hate the taste but works well for fondant/gumpaste modelling.
Yes, I would check out a cake supply store if you have one near you ... I just use the brand I like and add gum tex to it when doing figures, it works really well...
Hi,
I am in Barrie, I make the drive down the hiway to L&M Bakers at Steeles and Dufferin. They have a great supply of Fondant, cake boards pans .. They will deliver no charge for orders over $200.00..
