I just started using Satin Ice Fondant and I loved it! I wondered how many other people living in ON use it and where you get it.
maybe try asking members on the Canadian website forum?

I think Creative Cutters has it?
Hi delaware,
I am in Ontario too , where abouts are you? I have just purchased some from GSA but had it shipped to a friend's place in MI that I am visiting this weekend but they do also ship to Canada. The shipping is pretty expensive but the fondant is on sale now. I know that you can also get it from goldaskitchen.com and the shipping for a 5lb tub to Ontario is $7.15, which is pretty reasonable but the tub is $30.
Hope this helps!
I am in London and I buy my Satin Ice in Toronto at Golda's Kitchen. I haven't had it shipped as I just stock up when I am in the area. I've heard the shipping is pricey though - heavy product.
Hey Martha, I am in London too!!!
I checked the shipping prices and they were not too bad actually, the icing was the expensive part. I have been looking for somewhere in Detroit or Port Huron that I could buy it cheaper but have not come up with anywhere yet, I will keep looking and let you know if I find anything.
Where in TO is the Golda's Kitchen store?
Hello there Eileen and Martha .....I'm from London too!!!
nice to meet some neighbours!
Nancy
Nice to meet you too Nancy!
I just took a peek at your cakes....both of you are verrrrrry talanted! I am just starting but loving it. This is the absoloute best site for a newbie like me to get help! I am going to break into the world of fondant here soon!!!! Then there will be no stopping me!!!
I live in Ontario, and does bulk barn carry it? I thought I'd seen it there (however in the sticks where I am, I think they only have white) Maybe it was Virgin Ice? Is there such a thing. I was trying to help, but I think I've just become confused lol
Bulk Barn does sell Virgin Ice. I haven't tried it. I live in Windsor and no one sells Satin Ice. I did find a store in St. Thomas that sells Dawn Fondant and it is yummy. I paid $30 for 11 lb. tub. It is located at 647 Talbot Street. They have alot of other goodies too if you are interested. Alot closer than paying shipping from Toronto. Hope this helps.
Sorry I forgot to mention the name of the store in St. Thomas, it is called Scoops & Cakes.
Thanks phoufer!
I am about 15 minutes from St. Thomas so will make the drive this weekend!!! I am excited to try using fondant!

Great tell her I sent you! She is really nice, opened her store after business hours for me because I was coming from Windsor.
Hi Eileen and Nancy! Small world.
Eileen, Golda's Kitchen is on Argentia Road in Mississauga - just a few blocks from the 401 and Winston Churchill, so very easy to get to. It's really worth a trip to look at all the goodies.
phoufer - I keep hearing about the place in St. T., so I must check it out. Believe it or not, there is nothing in London except Michael's and Bulk Barn. Years ago, there was Cakery Decor and it was wonderful. It's gone though.
Bulk Barn does carry Virgin Ice. It tastes better than Wilton, but it is nowhere near as nice to work with as the Satin Ice.
I buy it from INto the oven,
I live by Windsor though..and can order to the States and pick up there....I am sure they deliever to us Canadians too...but more $$. But, I find they have great sales every month too.
HI Jodi,
Sorry didn't notice it was you who wrote this...let me know..I can order you some if you like,....
Hi Nicole
Guess we are neighbours, my son lives in LaSalle. Where is into the oven located? I have family in St. Thomas and London, so I can get them to pick up whatever I need. Windsor sucks for cake supplies. Cakes etc. has some but I find them a bit pricely.
Can I get in on this too? I live in the GTA and the Goldas in Mississauga is close to my parents house. I've heard its very expensive. Is that so?
Martha ...I remember Cakery Decor -too bad it's gone I could walk from my house in about 10 mins.!!
That's too funny...I just printed the Cakery Decor page from the online yellowpages and was going to call them so see if they were open in the evenings!!! Guess not!!!
Hey Nicole and phoufer..I live close to you guys..in tecumseh. Its so cool to find people close to home. Do you guys own businesses or have cake businesses out of the home?
Your both right, Windsor is terrible for cake supplys. I often go stateside to get them. Cakes etc..is pricey but they are helpful and never hesitate to answer questions.
Are you guys self taught, take classes?
Suzanne
Hi Suzanne
I just do it from home. I took the Wilton classes but really learned more from CC members and playing around myself. We should get together and go cake supply shopping! How about you? In business?
I live in Maidstone just past Russell Woods. Nice to see more local people on here.
I wish I had more people to bake cakes for. My family doesn't need them and I work in a one person office. Oh well. I still love to do it though.

I'm self taught for the most part. I did take one class at St Clair college many years ago to see if i had missed anything. I did learn a few things that made my decorating better, so it wasn't a total waste. But the bulk of my learning is from sites like this and practise. I've been making cakes etc.. for around 10+yrs, mostly for friends and family. I have been seriously considering selling my stuff out of the home and am starting to get costs figured out etc..It's alot of work. I never really intended on selling my cakes but soooo many people ask me if i will do their cakes etc..that i feel maybe i should take the jump. I called the township and health unit and am getting mixed messages if it is legal to do so. One inspector says go ahead we won't come into your home, the other says it's not allowed. I am also an RN but am not practising at the moment. Not sure i want to go back to it. I love doing cakes and can totally see myself doing this for a living. I've thought of applying to a cake shop or something but there isn't alot around here and i really like the idea of making my own hours.
This website is great for learning and ideas. I'm so adddicted to it. It's funny to find people so close to home on here. I thought i was the only one around that made cakes and cookies. I've yet to find anyone i know that does this around me..so it's really cool to have met you. I wish there was some sort of cake club around to talk cakes and share our work.
I look forward to talking to you some more.
I'll pm my email address so that we can communicate easier.
Take care. Gotta go my DS is home from school

Nice to meet you. This is sooooo cool to find people close to home that make cakes too.
ETA... years ago before i married I lived out in lakeshore(Flanders subdivision) and now that i'm married i live in tecumseh.
That's too funny...I just printed the Cakery Decor page from the online yellowpages and was going to call them so see if they were open in the evenings!!! Guess not!!!
I did that not long ago. The poor woman who has the number gets about a call a month. She says she's had that number for about 5 years.
Can I get in on this too? I live in the GTA and the Goldas in Mississauga is close to my parents house. I've heard its very expensive. Is that so?
It's not cheap, but it's cheaper than having things shipped. They have a great selection of pans, cookie cutters, decorating supplies, etc.
Martha-I know how the lady feels,I have lived in the same house for 5 years and I guess my phone number use to be Ambassador travel. I was so sick of it the first week/years. I still get them and geez I say hello or my answering machine says our names and people still want a flight..lol
The worst is in the winter when everyone wants to go south. I find it weird like with Cakery Decor that it's still online.
BTW it look like u,Eileen and I joined CC roughly around the same time(give or take)..lol
Keep in touch
Nancy
Those calls must be so frustrating. I didn't even know Ambassador was gone - shows you how much I know (and I used to be in that business). That's great that we are all in the area - we can let each other know about suppliers etc.
Hello All! Not to hijack the thread, but I just wanted to chime in as a fellow Ontarian! I very rarely use fondant, no one in my area likes it! I have bought fondant from McCall's in T.O. and I guess it tastes ok...chocolate too! I've never tried Satin Ice, but I'm thinking I should!
