Lovely cake, stupid people. I have done many dress cakes and stacked cakes for wedding showers. I guess they have only been to Wal-Mart sheet cake showers (no offense to Wal-Mart, but you get my meaning).

Now that's so FUNNY! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I had just seen this the other day and I thought it was unique and beautiful. I couldn't even believe it when I looked at your pictures and realized this was the one I thought was so great! I see beautiful wedding cakes in here that I would have never imagined for a wedding until I came to this site. But the cake is about the tastes of the person the event is for, not the guests! She obviously saw your talents if she still wanted one for herself, despite not liking it.

Oh yes - she forgot to post the back of the cake with the big ol' bootie stickin' out of it!

Or maybe there was the groom peeking his head up under the dress?

Oh, wait, maybe the bridal dress dipped so low in the back you could see her thong?

That cake is beautiful! I can't wait to see you post more. You are very talented. You said it was your first time working with eatible pearls. Did you make them yourself or did you buy them? I usually make my pearls out of fondant but I have a cake coming up that is covered with pearls and I'd much rather buy candied ones than make them myself. I worry that mine won't be perfectly round or they'll be too many different sizes and won't look good. If you did buy them, where did you get them, and about how much where they? Thanks! Great work!

Office politics, it's everywhere! You did a great job and it was perfect for a bridal shower. Your first tiered cake! You should be ecstatic! Let it roll off your shoulder. The bride liked and so did many others and it looks like every here says WOW great job too! That's all that matters.

I haven't read everyone's posts, but I've got a feeling I'm probably echoing them:
I think its nuts that you are even thinking twice about this woman's comments. There's no way that anyone could say that they thought that cake was inappropriate. She's acting like an idiot. icon_wink.gif

Great job!

I totally love these comments. I showed my DH the cake and we were both saying, there is nothing wrong with this cake. It's beautiful. Those lady's are not well at all.

Dont worry about them, I agree with the other post about not wanting to make the cake for fear to offend. Obviously the second lady had changed her mind, but she should have at least apologized first.

Some people are just so rude. We say, You should just say! NO CAKE for You! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Good Luck!

*snort* Whatever! That cake is beautiful! Just one of the tiers alone would have been nice, but the way you put them together, along with that gorgeous dress... wonderful!

But you're right... having someone criticize your cake, then turn around and ask for one... what's she smoking, and why isn't she sharing? icon_razz.gif

Wow, now that's revenge! LOL....

I would really like to know what it was about the cake that was not appropriate for a wedding shower. Maybe she thought it was too beautiful maybe it was more beautiful than the cake she had for her own wedding and she was simply jealous icon_twisted.gif .... uhm... too bad. Dont knock the CAKES!!! icon_mad.gif It just makes us all a bit nutty! icon_wink.gif

Maybe you should get some Walmart bakery business cards made up so when the cake police catch you doing things they don't like, they will know where to go to get their cakes. Even if they thought it was inappropriate (which I disagree with) commenting on it shows a complete lack of class.

CAKE POLICE. hehehe.

I like the walmart business card idea. Definately steer clear of making cakes for these 2 'spinsters'. hehehe.

I looked at it too, and just cannot for the life of me figure out how it is inappropriate for a bridal shower. I did a bridal dress cake for a bridal shower and everyone absolutely loved it. The bride did not even want to cut into it...I would just ignore people who are like that...well, after you ask them what is inappropriate about it...

If the person you made it for is pleased that's what is important.

Every work place seems to have employees that just have to have something neg to say. It's their way of getting attention. They are Ignorant, I wished I had been there to tell them so.

I think it would make a strange Wedding cake because it most diffently looks like a Shower cake.

Make sure you let them know you already made plans the week they want their cake and won't be able to do it.

The cake is not only a beautiful design, it is beautifully executed. It is completely appropriate for a bridal shower...it is the essence of a bridal shower!

Sounds to me like your co-workers were jealous of your talent.

I know a few people who haven't discovered they have a filter they can engage between their brains and mouths.

Were they saying that this looked like a wedding cake and therefore was not appropriate for a shower?

Or were they commenting on the idea of a shower being as "big" as a wedding?

Knowing people like that, I think they were commenting on the person who chose the cake and threw the party and it did not occur to them then and probably wouldn't now that you would take it as a knock on your work.

I think this cake is utterly amazing. Words cannot describe how incredible and beautiful I think this cake is. If you would rather make the next cake for me (and let the filterless folks pay for it), I would be honored.

OMG!!! This has to be one of the funniest office "jokes" out there. Boy I am so glad I hung my office hat up for cleaning toilets and sweeping floors. Anyway, I keep leaving little notes for my co-worker friend and am using gateaux's quote "NO CAKE 4 U" Really, we are just having fun with this now. BTW, I told "Tweedle Dum" that I had other commitments and couldn't possibly have time to make her cake and directed her to Wal-Mart. I think she was a little miffed, but that's the way the ball bounces...shoulda kept your mouth shut. icon_lol.gif
