I have seen all of the really cool designs that everyone uses on this website with Fondant and I want to start trying my hand at it. My problem is although I have been told marshmellow fondant is one of the best tasting will it be able to stand up to South Texas Heat? I live in San Antonio and get a little nervous about having an outdoor party and having the fondant melt off.... so I am wondering if I should try a different one. Also I see the Satin Ice advertised for on here and I was wondering if that would be a good item to use while I am trying to get a recipe right? I have tried Wilton and that is another reason I have shied away from Fondant so long. That was horrible!!! 
I live in south east texas and I just recently tried Michelle Fosters Recipe and it turned out great. It was pretty humid that day and we didnt have any problems with it.
I just finished using Satin Ice for the first time ever, and I love love love it. I've been making MMF for years, but needed black fondant for a carved cake.
It was so easy to roll, tastes pretty good, and is easily smoothable and moldable. I am a convert!
I live about 5 minutes from the beach in Alabama and another good fondant for humid areas in FondX.
I agree with the Satin Ice and Pettinice fondants also as your choices. My choice between those two would be Pettinice - not as sweet-tasting in my opinion as the Satin Ice. Both are very workable fondants.
I ordered black Satin Ice for my sons' trombone case cake and enjoyed using it. I didn't want to make all that black! However, I had a small package of Pettinice and thought it was just incredibly lovely to work with and delicious! I had used the chocolate.
