A Bride wants an exact copy of this cake in buttercream, I mainly work with fondant so I would appreciate any input you can provide on how much to charge for this cake made in buttercream with the scrolls made in fondant then painted silver... (Price it per serving), she has not informed me of how many servings she needs yet...

Thanks so much!
Have a sweet day! icon_smile.gif

What are the sizes of the cakes? That would be helpful with pricing.

You should really figure out how much it will cost you to make the cake, accounting for your time (which will be more than you think) and price it that way. Multiply it by 3 or 4. Otherwise, you might end up getting screwed.

I'm going to assume it's a 100 serving cake.

$3.00 per serving for buttercream icing and standard flavor (I have 2 categories of flavors)

$80.00 for the fondant work.

plus delivery.

$380.00 plus delivery for 100 servings.

That is a beautiful cake, for BC I start at $3 per slice. The scrolls would be extra. If they are not difficult to make, I would charge a flat rate. If they are more difficult and time consuming add to the price per slice.

I charge the same amount for buttercream as I do for fondant. It takes me a little longer to get buttercream perfect with no flaws. When I do fondant It has to be nice but not absolutely perfect.

that cake is gorgeous and it looks simple enough but I'll betcha it's going to be a nightmare getting those swirls onto the cake without marring up your icing a ton!!!! I wonder if you could make them out of gumpaste and then attach them as a whole piece to each side?? They're probably going to pull them off before cutting the cake anyhow! Personally I charge $2.25/serv. for bc with fondant accents........crazy I know!! I'm more expensive than all the other decorators around here too

In BC I'd charge $4.50/serving for the cake.

I charge more per serving for fondant cakes not beause of the effort, but because they are getting 2 icings. There's a full layer of BC under my fondant so they pay for that and the fondant is extra. icon_smile.gif

Yeah, difficult to figure out prices without specific details...

It seems pretty straightforward for you, though...it should be very pretty when completed!!

She was just looking for a per-serving price not a total price. Not hard to do at all, though I don't upcharge for certain flavors and filings unless it's choclate ganache or fondant so it may be easier for me.
