I have to make a woman, who's going to be sitting on a little chair I made out of cake. I've never made a gumpaste figure, though. I searched the forums and couldn't really find any specific instructions - does anyone have any links they can post with instructions on how to make human figures? Thanks so much for any help!

Best advice is to search google for Scupley Clay or Polymer Clay instructions. It is the same concept, you are just working with a different medium.

I have tried many times to find information about making people out of fondant or clay with not much luck. What I did run across (and hopefully will save you lots of wasted time) is that aine2 has a tutorial on her website that you can buy. She also has a free one showing how to make a face. The face one was very helpful. I haven't purchased the whole figure tutorial yet, but I will before I have to make another person! thumbs_up.gif
hope that helps! Good luck!

I bought Aines tutorial for the lady (around $10 US) worth every penny! I just recently bought the right tools and a scale that allows me to measure in grams (the unit of measure in the instructions). My first attempts prior to tools and scales are the kids on the swim cake in my photos. Below is my most recent attempt still missing her grad cap and needs a touch up on her eyes and cheeks.

Help, please!

https://webfdd.tollbrothersinc.com/PrepareLogin.do
did not work for me... is there another way to get to this? Netscape, IE, and Mozilla Firefox would not take me there... tried just www.tollbrothersinc.com and got a construction company.

I have only ever used Wilton's gumpaste. I've never tried to make it myself before. I don't think it taste as bad as the fondant but I don't think many people eat it anyway. It seems to work pretty good for me.
