Well, tomorrow is my health dept inspection and final building inspection! I am very excited! My camera battery is dead, so I'll try to get some pics in the next day or so of the store in the final stage. As long as my inspections go well tomorrow (and I have no reason to believe that they won't...) I'll start baking tomorrow afternoon and open for business Saturday! WOOT!! I already have 4 orders for this weekend for cakes, so that will give me a little start with business. The ice cream shop next door has developed some 'regulars' who check in on me often, so I know they'll be in to get some cookies and check things out. I wanted to do my 'grand opening' this Sat., but that was when I thought I'd be open last week. I have a ribbon cutting ceremony for Tuesday, and then I thought I'd do a grand opening the last weekend of June instead. That way I have time to smooth out the details, processes, etc.

Keep your fingers crossed for me tomorrow!

Hi everyone!
I've been so swamped with orders, I haven't had much time to log on lately (or sleep, or watch TV, or...) My shop has the happy dilemna that I can not keep my display case full! I honestly never expected the amazing response I have received from my community.

My picture has been in the newspaper twice within 3 weeks, which has generated a lot of interest and quite a few orders. The second picture was of me decorating a bridal gown shaped cake (like a headless barbie cake) for a bridal shower. It was pretty exciting.

I have one employee that works about 25 hours/week, and another one that works just on Fridays to help decorate. I would really like to hire one more person just to wait on customers and answer the phone, but we'll see how it goes as I get more organized. That is my biggest hurdle currently!

I've been so busy I haven't really even had time to decorate my shop, but I'll try to take a few pictures of the final stage to show you all. Thanks to everyone who has posted your good wishes- they are all SOOO appreciated!!!
