I usually tort my cakes and have a Contour cake coming up this weekend. I didn't think about torting it, but the layer that is contoured can you cut it in half without runining the contour shape?

It can be done. The contour usually just rounds the upper edge. I've torted a 3" contour into 3 layers, starting just under the rounded top edge, so it doesn't show under the icing.
