I am having my first tasting tonight. This is a pretty basic question, but... How many people would 6,8,10,12 serve. I figured 130 exactly. That doesn't seem like a lot for all that cake. Am I wrong?

Amanda, check out this thread. I've found this chart to be the most accurate of all of them. icon_smile.gif

According to the chart I use, you should be able to get the following servings (assuming we are talking about round tiers):

6" = 16
8" = 30
10" = 48
12" = 68

If serving all four, the total is 162.
If saving the top tier for an anniversary, the total is 146.

Of course, depending on how you cut your cakes (ring around or strips across), your yield could be different. Use your best judgment; you'll do just fine.

Good luck on your first tasting! Enjoy the process ... it makes the whole experience better for all concerned.

Happy Baking,

Odessa

Odessa,

I divided my pans into 1x2 slices and came up with the same servings per pan as you posted.

I use this chart and it always works out great. The cake does look small but for that amount of servings it works out good.
