Trace image onto cake

I have a cake to do for a friend's daughter and she has given me a picture that she wants on the cake how do I trace that picture onto a sponge cake that is going to be decorated with butter cream. Please help any ideas?????

Hey Jan you always come up with the goods. Thank you so much, I looked at the links and they have given me some great ideas, I'm loving the chocolate transfers this might be the way to go.

I did not look through all of those so I dont know if this one was mentioned. I use this one all the time and I love it.
I find and size my image. then I outline it with either a sharpie or edible marker, the goal being that you want to be able to see the flipped image when you turn the paper over.

Once I can see the image on the other side then I pipe the outline right on the paper, then lay the paper on the cake. Run the fondant smoother over the image and then use your fingers to run over the outline.
Gently lift up the paper and your image is then outlined on the cake.

Then you just pipe and decorate.

the only way i know to 'bookmark' a thread is to 'watch' the thread and have it in your watched topics

...if there is another way i don't know about I would like to know too lol
