I don't know if this is too late, but because of buttermilk's natural acidity it has a very long shelf life, if left too long it can grow mold on the inner walls of the container but it is the same harmless mold that grows on cheese. If its not chunky its fine

you can always make your own sour milk by adding a tbsp of vinegar or lemon juice per 1 cup of milk, for next time!
