Martha Stewart says in her blog that it's the White House's Executive Chef, Bob Yosses. I can't wait to see it!

I hope it won't be one of those simple and boring looking ones thumbsdown.gif ..

Since she is the President's daughter, it should be "TAAA DAAAAHHH" thumbs_up.gif

Oooh...we're tacky!

My guess is it will be like the family...boring and conservative.

Maybe Duff could give an assist in the creative department. Let's see---formal white house cake mixed with 3-D ear and convertible car design...
you could get a plain white cake with a big 3-D head of Daddy Bush on top. Big ears and all!

Somehow the event of a wedding in a family and discussion of a cake for the occasion hardly warrants bashing the whole family. JMHO, of course. LOL LOL LOL

I agree, what does that got to do with it ? really.. or maybe just an dumb excuse to bash someone. How shallow .. the subject was CAKE,
C A K E.. not the President since he is not the one getting married ... icon_razz.gif

Well, the picture of the cake he made for The Pope's birthday (at The White House) looked to be a fairly plain, yet elegant cake- which was appropiate for the occasion, I guess.

I did find this picture of some of his other work:

Image

"White House Pastry Chef Bill Yosses created a Rose Blossom of sugar for the State Dinner dessert. Comprised of white cake with fluffy 7-minute frosting, it is served with warm chocolate sauce and raspberries on a platter with and an English rose. White House photo by Lynden Steele "

Image

"For the luncheon after the State Arrival Ceremony, an edible âSpring Gardenâ was created complete with tiny watering cans made of chocolate sorbet with raspberry meringue, little spouts and handles of white chocolate. White House photo by Lynden Steele"

Beautiful! I also saw some of his chocolate work on a chocolate website. He appears to be a pretty amazing pastry chef.

My goodness, his work is beautiful...he can make/decorate a cake for me any time!

Conservative to me is also classy, and we all try hard for classy as well as creative and beautiful.

OMG, those sugar rose blossoms are exquisite.

Of course, the spring garden is impressive, too.

For sure, the cake will be very tasteful and elegant!

Conservative, elegant and classy is fabulous...

Simple and boring is not..

Based on these pictures, looks like it's gonna be a very nice one. Those

flowers are beautiful..

I don't think the White House guy could make a sculptured cake like that, Loriana. He does beautiful classic work, not those caricature ones.
Something like that would be good for a more relaxed atmosphere, but I betcha it will be formal up the kazoo.

From what I hear, That is why she didn't want it at the White House.... it is at the Ranch so it will ber more INformal.....

The OP was about who the designer would be for a bride's wedding cake....

Please don't take this discussion off on a political tangent.

We should be happy for this bride, as we are for ALL brides on their special day. icon_smile.gif

And I can't wait to see the CAKE! birthday.gifbirthday.gifbirthday.gif

Not at all meant to be political... it's just a statement. I would have said the same thing no matter who was in office.

If someone is in "office" it's a political office....
(So your comment would still be "political".)

I opened the thread to talk about cake designer, the possible style/s and the bride's plethora of options for her special day. icon_smile.gif

I don't know what this says:

Sila mygg & svälja kameler...... Wink

BUT as far as I'm concerned this is an English speaking website. Writing in a foreign language is as rude as speaking in a foreign language when you know no one else around you will be able to understand.

ALSO as far as I'm concerned, we do not disrespect the president of the United States, no matter whether we agree/disagree with him or not!

Kindly stop.

Insulting people, in their own language or another is rude and not something we like to have on this board.

From what I found "it is an expression that is about inconsistency in which small details can get more attention than things that are much more important"

Can we please stick to the OP! Thanks everyone thumbs_up.gif

I have hunted all over, and can find no mention of the cake baker/artist. They must be keeping it a secret?

Well, the big day is tomorrow, so we'll know soon!

Here's a link to Martha Stewart's blog (where she mentions Bill Yosses working on the cake plans).
http://blogs1.marthastewart.com/martha/2008/04/white-house.html

Of course, things could have changed since then. They are being so private about it all, but I would really like to at least see a picture of the cake! icon_smile.gif
