I'm doing my second wedding cake soon, very simple design, it's all white with a black ribbon around each tier and white gumpaste roses on the top.

The bride wants only 3 tiers for 130 guests, I;m thinking the only way to make it wok to get enough servings I would have to do 14",10", 6" or 16", 12", 8". I'm thinking this will look funny with a 4" difference between each tier?

Am I figuring the sizes right?

Will this look wierd?

I'd hate to have such a simple cake look horrible!

I don't have my serving charts in front of me, so I'm not sure off the top of my head if the tier sizes will work, but I've seen many cakes with 4" between the tiers and they look fine. In fact, when I took cake decorating classes, they taught us that, ideally, there should be 4" between each tier size.

I don't have my serving charts right handy, but i think you will need the 16,12,8 to feed that many people, i don't think the 14,10,6 is quite going to make it.

Oh and as far as the size difference it will look perfect.

I just made my first wedding cake this past weekend and my tiers had 4" differences. My bride even wanted the top tier to be 4". I thought it was going to look horrible! But it turned out really good.

I just got my 16" round pan in, I know i'm not used of making a cake for 130 people but man does it seem really large, is it typical for a bottom tier to be 16" this is probably a stupid question but I just want it to look good.
