Fondant Nursing Hat Help Needed...

I need to do a nurse hat for a lady that is graduating from nursing school. Any tips? I tried one yesterday out of MMF and let's just say it didn't turn out very well. I had a paper pattern that I used to cut it out, but then it didn't want to bend correctly and the front part just looks well, stupid! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA
I did one. I did it just like you did. I made a pattern out of paper and use the pattern to cut out the hat. I made the hat out of a triangle shape, and folded it so that each point overlapped in the back. I made the brim out of a long thin rhombus shape and after it had stiffened a little, then I "glued it to the front of the hat. I stuffed it with a ball of tissue and let it dry for a day. I airbrushed the cross on the front, which is also MMF. The blue band is just icing that I piped after I put it on the cake.
I think I added a little gumtext to my MMF. But only a little.

So you did the hat and the brim seperate? Maybe that is what I need to do. I tried it as one pc., but needless to say, that was a flop, literally! lol I will just have to try again. BTW, your cake is awesome! Thanks
WOW !! That cake is awesome ! Love it ! Is it in your pic,s? I would love to save it !
Did you use all MMF or did you use a mix with gumpaste? I don't think that it will be eaten, but it might be so I want to make sure that I am doing this correctly. TIA
I put a little bit of gum-tex in it, but not much. Just enough to help it stiffen. Maybe a half a teaspoon. I don't add it to the whole batch at once. I just add a tiny bit to the piece that I'm working with.

ok, Thanks! I am going to give this another try. Maybe I can get it right this time, lol!
Don't roll it out too thin either. Keep it about 3/16 of an inch. Good luck! Feel free to PM me if you need to.
