sculpture cake recipe help please

My cake is too moist, when i sculpture and put it to grther it fall apart whem I start putting the thin layer of buttercream om it, If i get to the stage of coverinf it with fondant the it all falls apart. HELP Please.
I have done rice krisp with great success.Thank You all FRAN

Sculpted cakes need to be made from a sturdy cake. Most scratch cakes work well, as does pound cake and the WASC which uses boxed mixes. The recipe is posted in the recipe section. Regular box mixes are generally too soft for sculpting.

Beachcakes is right, you have to use a sturdy, dense cake. Pound cake is best, and the Cake Mix Doctor books have some really good recipes. You may need to use a basketweave tip to pipe the crumb coat onto your cake, rather than try to put it on with a spatula. Then chill the cake before putting the fondant on.

All my sculpted cakes have been made with regular box mixes, but then again, I haven't done things QUITE as intricate as some...
