For all who asked how I did the buttercream draping effect on my "Krand wedding cake", the detailed instructions are from the June 1997 issue of ACDM. I am going to try to scan these pics into my puter. If you want I will either try to post here or will email to you.

Do you think I should do a "tutorial" on this technique? How do I go about that? Do I ask Jackie? I am happy to share!!

Until I can do up my own pictures, I cannot post the one I have on this site. ( Copyright issue) If after reading the directions and looking at the photo in my album, (Krand wedding cake) you still need help pm me and I will email the magazine pic to you.

Buttercream draping:

Ice your cake thickly with buttercream. The consistency should be a little stiffer than what you might normally use. Let the icing sit for a little bit and smooth. Divide the cake into however many sections you want to use ( 4 or six is probably the best). With one hand hold a paper towel against the side of the cake. Using the index finger of your other hand "swipe" a swag between two of your marked points. This should be the lowest swag on the cake. Continue swiping swags above the first one. They should be somewhat irregular, this will help to give and effect of movement to the drape. Be sure to go up to the top edge of the cake (there will be no border piped on the top). Dont push in too hard!! You dont want the cake peeking through icon_surprised.gif Continue around the cake until you have completed swags from point to point. Where the swags meet you can pipe ribbon bows or place flowers.

I hope this helps! thumbs_up.gif
