So this was my first tiered cake. I must say puting the 8" on top of the 10" was the easiest part. I couldn't believe how easy.
I put about 8 dowels. I know it was probably too much, but wanted to be sure it wasn't going to crush the 10"
The bottom was yellow cake and top was chocolate. Everyone at the party including the birthday boy loved the cake. But I know it had some issues. It was all BC with MMF accents. The Spider-Man face was out of MMF and took over 45 mins to make. And the top is a spider-man toy.
Let me have it, good and Bad.
Thanks for looking.
LL

You did great! I really don't know why people get so scared about stacking. I find it quite easy to do. Of course, I've only traveled with one stacked cake a very short distance but it was still up and down the hills of southern Ohio. icon_biggrin.gif That did scare me a bit. Look forward to seeing all your other stacked cakes now that you've done so well!

I don't see anything wrong. You did a fatastic job! Now that you know you can do it, you will be much more confident to stack from now on. Great job.

You did outstanding - I appreciate how much time goes into any cake and especially a tiered one. This is very professional looking. Congrats - you're on your way! thumbs_up.gif

Thanks!--You guys are awesome. I got teary, looking at all the nice comments.
The hard part I had was getting the BC smooth. I think (after looking here on CC), I may have added too much fat to my BC and it wouldn't crust very much. Won't be doing that again. Also, I went to measure where to put the 8" by putting a cake circle on top and some of the BC pulled off. Got so frustrated. Anyway, I added some PS where the 8" went after re-frosting that part and worked like a charm.
As far as the webbing looking shinny, I have no idea how that happened. I can't remember it being shiny, it could have just been the flash.
Thanks again for all the comments. You guys have boosted my ego. My sister (the mom of the birthday boy) loved the cake and so did everyone else.
DH had me promise I wouldn't do any more cakes for a while, since I get so overwhelmed every time. I may not be able to keep that promise.

Believe me, the more cakes you do... the more exciting it gets. When you start creating in your head, and then apply that design... looking at the finished product... Gosh... it's a natural high!!

I love doing what I do. I know I haven't achieved the greatness that many on CC have, but I keep trying... practicing... creating...

Keep it up... you'll soon become addicted!
