I found these edible image cookies on the web, and loved the way they are
"framed" with sprinkles. I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how to add the sprinkles like this company did and make a perfect frame around the image. Since their cookies are dipped in chocolate, not iced, do you think they "paint" additional chocolate around the pic to make the frame? It is SO
precise though! I know some of the great minds here at CC can figure it out.
So, if you think you have an idea...let me know!
I haven't tried this yet, but i read somewhere that you can mix meringue powder and water (more water than MP) to make a "glue". Then paint it on the area you want your sprinkles to stick to. Sprinkle the cookie and remove excess. I'll try it this week and see if it works for me.
good luck! those cookies are too cute.
Joanne914 Those are so cute my sister runs a daycare out of her house and she loves to have the kids do things like this. This would be nice for mothers day. I will keep watching to see how you do this. I have never done dec cookies before but I am taking a glass with Michelle Bommarito at the end of May to learn how. Cant wait
PS I live in the Chesterfield / New Baltimore
area where are you at
You could make the frame with candy melts painted on with a paintbrush. You would have the edge of the image to use as a guide.
I made cookies with a white chocolate frame...the girls had pink sugar on their frames, the boys had chocolate sprinkles...for my daughter's class for Valentine's Day. I used a butter knife and even with that it was possible to get nice, tidy results.
Thanks so much to everyone that came up with an idea to do this!
All are great ideas, and I will try each one to see which one works the best.
I'll be sure to post my "experiments" here! lol
dg10148...WOW a class with Michelle Bomarito! I'm going to guess that you're taking the class at Heinrich's? I live north of Detroit, White Lake actually.
It's two towns west of Pontiac. (everyone always knows where Pontiac is!)
Is is too late to sign up for the class? That would be awesome to take a class with her. Let me know!
i actually hears that they added a second class because the first one filled.
i'd be anxious to know how her classes go!?!?!?
ya know a while back someone tried tostart a michigan cake club and it didn't make it too far. there are so many great decorators in mich i think we should try to get something together!! i already met joanne! we had so much fun laughing!
Those are very sweet, what a cute idea!
dg10148 I am also taking the Michelle Bommarito class in May! I am so excited and nervous! I have not been doing cookie decorating very long and I am worried I am going to be out of my league.
And "hello" to all you Michigan girls! : )
when i grow up i wanna live in romeo
LOL, we love it out here, close enough (getting closer) to everything, but yet we still have that small town country charm.
every october for apple season, i think i pick out a different house i want!
As a kid we used to drive through Romeo going to my grandparetns house, and I used to be in awe of the old homes. I never ever thought I would live down here!
so, i think we should all consider trying to get this michigan cake and cookie club started again
....oops, sorry joanne, didn't mean to hijack your thread
Joanne, I've done something like this, I decorated the cookie then piped a border with royal, then put the sprinkles on the wet royal and let dry.
I did something similiar with a round image.
I just flooded the entire circle, centered my image(which was also round but a bit smaller) then waited a few minutes, then used sprinkles.
It was pretty easy in fact. I used a color that coordinated with the image.
I think I have a few pics in my gallery. They were for Christmas and I purchased the edible images from Pfeil and Holing.
LOLOL That's ok Dawn! Count me in for the Michigan Cake Club too! And where is the cookie class being taught with Michelle Bomarito?

dg10148, they must have opened up a third class! The first one is April 29, and my date is May 6 and you are May 20! I was told when I called that she will only take 18 per class, do you know if this is true?
Well, dg10148 and onceuponacookie, I called and got into the May 20 class.
Thanks for the info. Now all we need is Dawn (kneadacookie)! Wanna come
"play" Dawn?

Oh good! I am making the trip down there tomorrow for a few things. : )
Joanne - I bet you could "poaint" on a border with piping gel, too and the sprinkles would adhere to that.
Thanks again to everyone that took the time to post an idea on how to do this. I really appreciate all of your input. As soon as I have "two seconds" to my name...I will try them all out and see which one works best. I will be sure to report back with details and pics!
oh man, that sounds like fun! i think we'd get into too much trouble giggling in the front row. i would love to take a class, but i'm already signed up for a business series out at schoolcraft. 6 weeks of tuesdays thru may and part of june. i'm pretty excited. i'm researching opening a commercial kitchen that we can rent out space. gotta get all my ducks in a row!!!
i'll catch you ladies next time. or maybe it doesn't even have to be a class(also trying to figure out the michigan cake and cookie club thing)
OK Dawn ...you're off the hook this time! But only because I want to be the first one that you rent space to in your NEW COMMERCIAL KITCHEN! Remember your CC friends when you're looking for renters! We'll fill your space in no time!
We will be sure to let you know how the class goes. We'll try not to giggle too much!

I did just about the same thing.......flooded the whole cookie, placed the image, but I sprinkled the sprinkles immediately.
