This is cake is for a friend's little girl that wanted a purple and pink cake. I'm totally at a loss for ideas. Should I add something else to it? If so, WHAT?????

For some reason, it looks like it would look splendid with dots on it. Big, little, in-between... just dots. icon_smile.gif Pink on purple, purple on pink... you get the idea. icon_razz.gif (I have a 'dots' cake in my pics, if you like the idea and want to see one I've done)

I love the colors, but you're right... it needs something more. Not much, but something. icon_razz.gif I'm sure lots of folks will have great ideas. icon_smile.gif

Good luck!

Maybe some polka dots in the opposite color?

Too cute - I love the colors. Can you do some fondant cutouts? Polka dots, flowers, stars...anything like that. You could do pink ones on the purple tier and purple ones on the pink tier.

Hi Cindy!
I think the cake is very cute. If you're looking for something as a little extra, you could just put purple poka dots on the pink later and pink ones on the purple layer. just something a little extra and very simple.

something kind of girly on the sides with the alternate icing color would be cute. Like some scrollwork or maybe some fondant cutouts. It does look like it needs something more, like it is not finished yet. Please post a pic of what ever you decide to do!

Hi there.
That is so funny. I was going to say dots too!!!
That, or else if you can have the "ribbon" come down the sides to look like a parcel. Do you know what I mean? Did I totally spell that wrong??? and then add the quirlyques to it, some "confetti" dots... Sorry if I'm rambling!

I think it's funny that four of us chimed in with 'polka dots', apparently at the same time! LOLOL Great minds MUST think alike!!! icon_smile.gif

Check out the "festive cake" by SweetArt. Not as busy, but it gives you the idea!
Good luck!

Ha! Ha! That is funny! I guess DOTS would be the majority vote!!! Thank you so much! I had planned on dots, but I just did a baby shower cake this week with dots (in my pics). I thought it woul be same oh..same oh...to do DOTS again.

Well, then how about some of those girlie flowers, like on your other cake, in the purple and pink? That would work, too, and you obviously already have those cutters. icon_smile.gif

Just an idea! I can't wait to see what you come up with. You will post a pic, won't you?? icon_smile.gif

Well this is what I get for not following everyone's advice. UGH!!! I thought I would try something with the BC instead of Fondant since it was midnight and I must have this cake ready by 8:30 a.m...not to mention that I would have to color the fondant since I used what little I had left on the bear and bow. Now I know why I don't do free hand. The swirly gig thingy's look like my 3 yr old did them. I should have just left the cake plane jane...

Thank you all! Next time I will have to make the bear much bigger. You can't even see him in the bow when I looked at the pictures. Now I just wish my camera took better pictures. The second go around it made the cake look all shiny and wet, but it doesn't look like that. HMMM
