Texans! Elite icing from HEB - Page 2

I love HEB! It's one of the reasons I love living in Texas. I have never heard of Elite icing though...is that what they put on their cakes at the grocery store? If so, then I don't like it. It reminds me of Bettercreme. If it's not, then again, I haven't heard of it.

I wonder how it is sold.

Elite icing is simply home made whipped topping that is sweetened just a little. It is completely differ ant than butter cream and when you order a cake from the HEB bakery you have a choice of what kind of topping you would like. The reason some people prefer the Elite is because it is not as sweet as the rest. I work in the HEB bakery.

I've seen the elite icing, I assumed it was just what they use on the cakes in the store. Our local Target sells frosting in tubs in their bakery area too, which I never saw in Illinois. There's a Kroger near me that also sells icing in the bakery, but they sell it in every color, and it's out on a table rather than in the chiller. Super expensive though.

Heh, sounds like HEB's version of Bettercreme, maybe?
