Help! I just baked a white cake with the extender added to two box mixes. I was adding only one recipe of the extender and after about six minutes in the oven realized I never opened my sour cream!!! Does anyone know how it will taste? I hate to waste it if its just a personal preference thing - the cake rose and baked up fine, but I'm worried about the cake's flavor. Should I toss the cake and start over?

it should be fine I dont think that the taste will be too bad. It may not be as moist as if you added the sour cream.

I always taste my cakes after I have leveled them and eat the scraps. I check to see if they are too dry, not enough flavorings, etc. I'm sure it will still taste okay, but check to be safe! icon_smile.gif

Your cake will taste fine, the sour cream is used to make the cake more moist. I make plenty of cakes with and without sourcream and they both taste great.
