Jana, I think the different colors would be the thing for them! I don't think you would need a turn table because they don't know how to frost a smooth cake yet so they will just blob it on. My Grandkids also love lots of different sprinkles! icon_smile.gif

I'd give them some icing & sprinkles, maybe some mini chocolate chips. They'll be good to go. Ive got a 4in & 5in fat daddio that I got today, I got the sizes wrong....I have to be a timed baker, with 3 kids, one being 2, I would forget until I smelled charcol!

I was at mangelson's today, and wilton has this new icing stand out, it holds a bunch of icing bags, so you can kinda grab and go, and instead of laying them down on the table. It was 9.99, I got one today! I wanted one I saw in decopac, but I thought this one would work just as well!

Can you find a picture of it Chass? I'm having a hard time picturing it. It sounds cool, though.

So I brought the tips and bags and colors and some sprinkles for the girls, but when I got there they weren't there. Their mom forgot to tell me that it they were visiting their grandma, so it was just their little brother (2) this time. lol! I just left the bag packed, I'll do it another time.

Has anyone else seen the Scratch-Off thread? I think it sounds like a cool idea, and I'm deffinantly going to practice some as cuppies icon_smile.gif

Jana, what's the Scratch-off thread?

I just use drink glasses to hold my bags of icing in. It works great! You can fold the top of the bag over the rim of the glass and fill the bag and then twist it!

Here is my cake that I did for sis in law! I changed the design, had a massive headache all night last night, made doing the cake kinda hard! I did ganache under the fondant instead of bc.

http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1382194&done=1

And now my sis in laws mother in law wants a groomscake after she tasted the chocolate chip cake I made. She wasnt going to do a groomscake, but now will only if I do it! And it's for Friday! Chocolate cake, chocolate bc, chocolate shavings, with choc covered strawberries, 10 in square. will that serve 35?

I use super-tall glasses to hold my decorating bags in right now. I have 4 of them, and I don't see myself decorating in buttercream all THAT much, but it is pretty cool looking.
Chass, I really like the yellow! But yellow is one of my favorite colors, so maybe I'm biased icon_wink.gif good luck on the Grooms Cake. I'm all for chocolate overload!

GrandmaG - The Gread Scratch Off is a group making a bunch of differnet recipes (this month is yellow cake) you get to choose from a pool of 14 or so recipes. Everyone is going to share their thoughts at the end of the month.

I love this one but I can't remember if it crusts or not....

Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate" Chocolate frosting.

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
2/3 Cup Hershey's Cocoa
3 Cup powdered sugar
1/3 Cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk beat on medium speed to spreading consistancy. Add more milk if needed. Add vanilla.

Hope this helps.

Woah, thats a good deal. I am SO tired of paying for butter. Really. Have I mentioned I hate paying for butter? It's so expensive in Scottsdale! I can go to a nearby city like Giblert and get it nearly 35 cents cheaper. GRrrr.
Ok, just my vent. Sorry ladies icon_smile.gif

Chass, I want your butter!
My costco only sells salted, which sometimes I'll use but isn't ideal, and it ends up being $1.9something per pound. Walmart sometimes has it for $2/lb, which I snap up when they do, but usually it's closer to $2.30 and at reg. grocery stores $3-4-5 easy.

Wow I need to move to the US! I am super lucky if I can find a lb of butter for less than $3 and my costco only carries salted as well and even that is over $3/lb

Salted is 5.29, unsalted is 5.19, they are super close in price. I was at Sams club yesterday, and it was 3.00-4.00 for 4lbs! And the powdered sugar is .56 more a pound then at costco! I have memberships at both, so I'll have to get some stuff at one, and some stuff at the other.

Hey everyone. Sorry I've been AWOL for so long again. This pregnancy is kicking my butt and my family sucks...long stories on both accounts, trust me. After spending last weekend in the ER with a gallbladder attack (fun times), I'm gearing up for some baking. Wanted some opinions, please!

Next weekend, my grandparents are hosting a family reuinon type picnic for their 60th wedding anniversary. My grandmother has asked me to bake 3-4 dozen cupcakes as there are some bars and such included in their catering package, but (her words) she wants other options in case they taste like crap. LOL! This is a very family oriented ordeal with several smaller children, so I want to shy away from alcoholic varieties as I don't want to have to guard the cupcake table all day!!

Initially, I'm also thinking some summery flavors. Debated a strawberry mango. I have frozen mango puree that I had left over from a cake that I thought I could fold into a brusting. Hmmm....or maybe something like a lemonade cupcake? Thaoughst or ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!!
