beryls.com

I got bounced out before I could add, the Middle Eastern stores or any ethnic shop like that.

I use rosewater interchangeble with vanilla. or use it to make my gum glue

Mims, I get rosewater from the health food store. I've only used it as an inedible.. I do get some rose syrup from the india market. Are you wanting to flavor an icing? Rose essential oil is expensive but you could buy some of that & make your own too. Sounds heaveny! Hope you are able to find some!

I get rosewater in the liquor section of Central Market, which is an upscale supermarket in Texas. You might try a specialty grocery or a market in an upscale neighborhood.

It can be used for a variety of things. I have an Indian food cookbook and it is used in a dessert. BUT then I have a recipe (and I made it) for a face spritz using rose water.

Also, if you can't find it in stores, go to an Indian restaurant and ask them..they will know for absolute sure!!

I believe it might be an element in Turkish delight (yummy)

I use it in Kheer (rice pudding) (probably not traditional but definitely delish)..it is very perfumey...usually people are strongly opinionated about it..either love or hate

I have a very good friend from Syria who was once making rosewater at a time when I visited her. It is a very time-consuming process, and where I live, very expensive, as she only uses organic rose petals. I have many Arabic-American grocers in my vicinity. I can get a 12 ounce bottle for about $5, so it is not worth the work for me, since I do not use it that often.

There are webpages available online with instructions on how to make it.

Sorry to hear that you cannot find it at your local sources. Do you have any Arab-American grocers near you? They would definitely have it.

Otherwise, I can only offer you the website to a store I shop at when I am in NYC. They import spices, seasonings, teas, and some food products from all over the world, but their specialty is Middle-Eastern. I deal with them frequently, and find them to be very reliable, offering only high-quality products.

You're welcome, Mims. Just remember to pay your mortgage and all your bills before you go on there, so you don't spend the bill money. It sure is tempting, though!

You can go to a hispanic store and get some. I bought one on Sunday and the bottle reads food purposes. I use it for a practice homemade fondant.
