Ok, so I'm gettting ready to do 2 FBCT's for the 1st time - on one of the FBCT's there are a couple spots of 4 different colors no bigger than a dime and some smaller than that like lips and eye color - I was wondering - instead of having to color up all that icing by hand for those small spots - I have the colors in the Wilton Decorating Tubes - but how will that work on a FBCT? Will it crack and ruin my FBCT? Or should I just take the plunge and work up all those other colors? I'm wanting to go to Michaels for some supplies soon - so any quick replies are much appreciated. Thanks.
I use the Wilton premade black to outline my BCTs. I've never used it in the transfer but I think you would be fine to use it for small areas. The only problem I can see is it is probably a little stiffer than your buttercream but it should work fine in a small area. Mixing up tons of colors especially when it is a tiny area takes up so much time so I say go for it!
Good Luck!!
I just used the black to outline in my first FBCT and it came out just fine. I say go for it! I know what you mean about mixing up the color just for a little bit! I didn't feel like making the black!
Hey Shugga, I use the tube black too. I always squeeze it out of the tube & add a little water to it, then put it in a parchment bag. I can control those bags better. It works great for BCT's!
