Hello CCers:
Is any of you attending the America Bakery Expo in Atlantic City in September?
Here is the link:

I wanted to go so bad to Cake Camp in La Vegas but I wonât be able to attend,
Iâm so excited about this one in AC!!! Itâs only 2 ½ hrs from home! yay!!!
I know this is for business only but I will be attending with my b/f,
Does any of you know is he allow to come with me to the expo?
Heâll most likely rather spend the day playing roulette but I would like to have his input on things that I would like to buy.
I'm going. This will be my second time, and this time I am taking a class with Bronwen. As long as you register with a business, you can bring anyone you want.
we just registered today! yay... one of us is taking Bronwen's class, the other gets Julie Bashore's class. What a good boss I have!! =)
I am going and can't wait. My friend and I signed up for both Bronwen's and Ron Ben Isreal's class. We're so excited!
I went to last year's show and the classes were open forum. I think the pre-registration requirement this year is a wonderful idea! The demo started out great, but soon the crowd was overwhelming and distracting and eventually the chefs were repeating themselves over and over so the latecomers could hear then. Not fair to those of use who lined up hours before to wait for the seats up front!
I found the show itself so-so. Nothing really new and innovative to see, but the demos made it worth the trip. of course, I live in South Jersey, so I'm only and hour outside of AC anyway! LOL
I'm not able to attend this year, since I'm having a baby and due that weekend!
I'm so bummed. I just went to go register but it's not open to the general public I assume you have to be licensed to attend?
so what's the difference between a non exibiting vendor and a qualified attendee (other than $470)
I also wanted to go to Cake Camp this year but I am just too busy!!! So we did get tickets to the show, but I didnt sign up for any classes. Just can't afford them. We are looking forward to talking to vendors and seeing what kind of trouble we can get into...
Where is everyone staying?

If you want to find a cheap place, you'd better book now.
Also, they offer the same expo in Chicago. Have you ever been to that one? A colleague of mine goes every year, and she thinks it's bigger than AC - but that's just her opinion.
There were a bunch of members who went last time, with some competing. I think they tried to have a CC meet-up there.

We should put together something if a lot of people are coming! Would love to put some faces to names!!
Hi All:
I got an email yesterday from one of the organizers.
I'm a licensed home baker and I asked her if I needed to bring either my business EIN or my business registration form from the Department of State to proof that I am a 'qualified attendee', she says is not a requirement but to bring it to be on the safe side.
So tonight I will register and book the hotel! yayyy!
Of course I will be booking the cheapest possible.
We got our tickets, but haven't had time to look for a hotel yet. Does anyone have any recommendations>
are they really gonna ask for that information??
i mean i'm registered and all but are they really gonna check every person thru the door

Yesterday we booked the "Econo Lodge Boardwalk"
$340.00 from Saturday to Tuesday.
When I found out about this a couple of months ago, my mouth was watering (figuratively). I was like, "Great! Finally something in state!" Then, of course, I found out that you have to be licensed. I'm so bummed. I'm thrilled to be going to Cake Camp, but would love to attend some other cake-related conventions.
I'm thinking of asking a new acquaintence of mine, who is not attending, if she could register me under her bakery business. I have to see how it goes.
Okay, I might have found a way to go this. Which Bronwen Webber class are you guys signed up for? The 21st or the 22nd?

Sounds like a good deal, but its in a very bad part of town...have you stayed there before?

Really? omg!!! thanks for letting me know.
Never stayed there before...but it looked so close and convenient...
I booked the convention, but now am working on airline tickets, it is difficult and looks like we have to fly into Newark, is there a shuttle to Atlantic City?? Haven't looked at hotels yet either...
Just going there is a real challenge!
PS, I know this is an old thread!!
We got our tags yesterday! We are still working on going (DH not sure he can get the time off). Where is everyone staying? Was wondering if anyone wanted to get a group together!
I finally have just about everything organized, we (my husband and I) are going to stay at Trump Plaza, it was on the Expo website, not the most expensive but still enough.
We are not attending any courses, this is our first "baking/cake" trade show, (I have a great husband), we will be researching products etc.
We are flying from the West coast, and are flying into Philly. and taking some sort of transportation to Atlantic city, they are called Tropiano Shuttle Service. I still have to book.
We have not received the tags yet, they may be in the mail this week.
After, we are going to New York, my first time also, very excited, I want to book a show or something.
Hope to see some CC'ers there!

We got a room at the Courtyard 2 blocks way fro $99.00 a night. The show in Chicago is the regional bakers show. This one is the national, which alternates between Atlantic City and Las Vegas. We just started going to this show because of it's concurrence with Sigep - the gelato convention. One pass gets you into both shows, and no one has ever asked for some "proof" that we have a business. Bring a business card, and that will suffice. They are anxious to have as many potential "buyers" there as possible.
We went online yesterday and looked around at hotels..we were surprised how many still had rooms! Since we are already members of Harrahs, we are leaning towards the one of the hotels on the boardwalk, since we can then just jump on the bus to the convention center. Anyone know how parking is at the convention center? Hopefully my DH will know if he can go this week!
We also just want to go to talk to venders and see bakery products...we are Show people, we go to the auto show here, and the camper show and the garden show, so we are excited about this!
