All of these borders are wonderful.
I'll have to try the 104 border and see how it looks.
Has anyone tried that #104 border? Think it might be large overlapping circles or small ones?
There's another border I like, but I'm not sure if there is a name and i have no picture of it. You use a #104 tip, hold it with the thin side down (towards the bottom of the cake) then start drawing overlapping circles. The effect looks like points aiming down. I'll usually put a reverse shell with a #18 tip just touching the top part, garnishing it with a few small leaves. I really like that 104 border though because it reminds me of the hemline on my wedding dress.
I am having a hard time figuring this one out, in my head. I guess I need to try it. Is it going on the sides of the cake at the top?...and I agree, how large are the circles? If someone gets this figured out, please post a pic of it. I am curious.
I tried it but it looked odd...maybe I am not doing it right. This has been stuck in my head.
I love this thread...hope it never dies again. I too was getting way bored with the same old shells...now I've got some things to practice on. This site is such a good tool for decorators.
Check out the bottom border on this one! I LOVE it!

For those of you who were wondering about the border using the #104 tip and making overlapping circles. I sent a pm to Rose_N_Crantz ....and she answered right back. .....and she just recently made a video of her doing it. She has the link in her sig. line now. The beginning of the clip is of her making a buttercream rose and after that she does the border....check it out. A new one for me.
bcjean...I watched your beginners border tutorial forever ago...glad to know you are here too...YYYAAAAYYY Cake Central my home away from home!!!
here is the one I like...among many others..
I have a youtube video of this border being made. If you'd like I could look it up!
BTW...Thank you BCjean!
I was having a hard time trying to picture that one in my head. I had a vision of complete circles overlapping each other and couldn't picture where she was getting points. I am going to try it at work tomorrow. I'm too lazy to make icing at home. It went really fast and I am all about fast decorating.....and buttercream. .....and I love new ideas.

Thanks! I've seen it, but would love to have the link to save this time.
I am so thankful for this thread. Love all the boarders & will be trying many of them soon!!
THanks for resurrecting this thread! Somehow I missed it the first time around. Beautiful borders! This is great inspiration as my piping skills are lacking!

This is incredible. Can anyone give a hint as to how it's done? TIA.
Well, I lied. I don't have the link. I guess I must have deleted it when I was cleaning up. UGH! And it was awesome too! If anyone has the link for the video could you please post it?
The instructions for that gorgeous cake border were given to us by Mark from London Cakes, here on this thread... http://cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-586618-borders.html
BCJean, could you do a tutorial on how to do different ruffle borders? I particularly like the one done on the purple gingham cake. It's the same border on the poodle cake listed in this thread.
