These are made using a rose tip directly on the cupcake, piping in curves going around the edge and then adding more layers. I'm sorry, i don't know how to explain it really well....
Those are really cool. I have to make cupcakes for a friends birthday in a couple weeks and these would be so cool.
When they make the rose directly onto the cupcake, do they do it the same way as if you were making a rose on a nail?
That video is a great tutorial. I have used that technique a lot on my cucpcakes and have gotten soo many compliments on them. I wish she would make a video for everything, she is a great teacher!
But, I would love to see one on how they made the roses you pictured. I am thinking you would do the roses just as if you were making them on a flower nail? Starting in the middle?
Heres the one that was loaded today

I just finished watching the youtube link. I really enjoyed it. I had no idea so many how to videos are out there. I guess you can tell how much time I spend on cake central
I used a tip 104 for my cupcakes I did for Valentines day.
Here a picture of the cupcakes.
Do you mind telling us how you did it?
Using a 104 tip, I did an up and down motion while turn the cupcake at the same time. Kinda doing a ruffle.
Solecito - Thanks! Did you watch the video yet? Are you going to try some. Can't wait to see them.
I'm gonna try to do the rose the "rose" cupcakes this weekend. I'll just have to experiment since know one knows how those were made on the cupcake.
Yes I've seen it. I do want to try them out, but right now I'm getting ready for a bridal show I have on the 20th so I don't really have that much time. As soon as I try them I'll post a photo.
If you wanted a tighter rose, I wonder if you couldn't make the bud on a flower nail and then add that to the the "last two rows" made like Trixyinaz did. Just a thought.
PJ, that isn't a bad idea. I was thinking that I would just make a stiffer icing and hold the tip at a different angle to make the petals so they stand up more like a rose. I'll practice the weekend. My girlfriend is coming over and we are practicing decorating. I'll have to try it both ways. Thanks for the idea!
