When I bake my large sheet cakes, I've been putting a couple of flower nails toward the center to help it to bake more evenly. It works pretty well, but the flower nails are really a pain in the watusi to clean. Is there a better alternative?

I'd throw them in a sink or container of water to soak for a few minutes. That should soften any cake that has baked on them, I would think. Do you spray them with Pam before inserting?
