I am in Canada and I have not heard of this, what is it and where do you get it??

It's a nondairy whipped topping found in the freezer section, however I believe it is only sold in the US by Smart+Final (which is in the Western US, it's a restaurant supplier/open to the public/kind of like Costco without the membership fee...but much smaller...type of place). It's related to Frosting Pride and Rich's Bettercream but I have no experience with those two products.

Would this be like Cool Whip??

I think Cool Whip has to be refrigerated though. Pastry Pride is room-temp stable once it's been whipped up.

does anyone know if these products are Kosher (parve)?

I'm in Canada too, and I've never seen either Pastry Pride or Rich's Bettercreme. I wonder if we can get it anywhere here - sounds like the Pastry Pride is a no-go, though. I would like to see if we can get either item without having to order from the US and paying huge shipping fees.

Hmmmm....sounds like a great alternative to the traditional whipped topping. How well does it pipe?

I LOVE pastry pride. It is a non dairy topping that comes in a liquid form. You put it in you mixer with a whip attachment and it whips up like whipcream. It is stable at room temp and you can add all types of flavors to it. I am not sure of the Kosher labels but it has a U with a circle around it and a small d next to it. Hope that helps.

Sounds almost like Dream Whip topping. Can this be substitued?

I was thinking of Dreamwhip this morning, but looked at the package and you have to use milk, so it would need refrigeration!

I wonder why Canada doesn't have all these good things for cake decorating! It is frustrating (or maybe I just don't know where to look!)

I live in Canada and have never seen Pastry pride. I have seen Richs Bettecreme.  Although it is mostly available to commercial bakerys  here in Canada you can sometimes find it at small seconds stores like Almost Perfect in Ontario. Bettercreme is like  whipped icing  Walmart uses it on there cakes.
