All I can say is WOW!!!
That was amazing. Just makes me want to keep it up and maybe one day I will get there.
I can't imagine the time it takes to get those done.
I contacted the owner of the bakery to ask about the Swarovski crystals~ and they are in fact- Swarovski crystals. She said she needed to change her website to "almost everything is edible". I know a bunch of you were wondering as I was...but her cakes are just amazing!
Where can you buy edible Rhine Stones ??
OR can you use real Rhine Stones on cake but just make sure they are removed b4 eating ? All these cake are just beautiful... I like them.
They are not "busy" and not overloaded with decorations.. very classy and elegant..
The cakes are beautiful, but did you see the horse's head cake? In the grooms' cakes? Probably inspired by the Godfather movies
The site is not cooperating with me today so I am not sure if this question has been raised so far in this thread. I looked at the website and admired all the cakes, beautiful work! I did notice that in the birthday cake section there are a couple of character cakes, Sponge Bob and Baby Einstein. Each cake has a footnote saying it is a licenced character. Does this mean the bakery had paid a fee to Disney and Nicholodeon be able to reproduce the characters? If that is the case I wonder how difficult it is to obtain permission and how much it costs.
Oolala, you asked about edible rhinestones, this site sells edible gems which I guess is similar to what you are looking for.

First of all, - WOW!!! But this newbie has a question - what are the cakes made out of... I still do not know the difference between all the molding stuff
FONDANT - CANDY MOLD - MARIZPAN - MOLDING CHOCOLATE - GUMPASTE - ETC....
Also, how do you color them - do you add food coloring at first or are they airbrushed.
Where do you get all the molds to make all this stuff? What tools are needed to do this stuff?
Sorry, got to love us newbies - LOL
Thank you for the site

First off, welcome newbie to CC (otherwise known as your new addiction! )
In answer to your questions, fondant is a stiffer sugar paste which is rolled out thin and draped over a cake to cover it. Homemade tastes best because you can flavor it however you like it. Marzipan is an almond paste/corn syrup mixture which is also rolled out and can be wrapped around a cake, or used for modeling.
Candy melts and modeling chocolate are essentially the same thing -- candy melts are little discs of chocolate which are already tempered and ready for use (usually one melts them, pours them into a mold and lets them set up.) Modeling chocolate can be made by adding corn syrup to melted chocolate and letting it set up hard at room temp then kneading a little at a time with your hands to soften and make shiny. It is then ready to model with.
Gumpaste is a hard sugar paste which dries very very hard and is not meant to be eaten. The flowers made from gumpaste can be preserved forever! It's better to make the gumpaste yourself -- the mixes one adds water too either don't dry or are very stretchy and can deform your flower petals (don't ask me how I know that...) There is some debate and you really have to just play with various recipes -- some like the gumpaste made with gum tragacanth (the sap of a tragacanth tree) and some prefer the recipes made with Tylose powder. The gumpaste with tragacanth is smoother and the one with Tylose powder is whiter.
Any good cake decorating store has most everything you need to get started, and there are many suppliers online once you get familiar with the tools and supplies you'll want to work with.
All I can say is HOLY MOLY! All of their cakes are gorgeous. I could only wish to have that kind of talent. I wish I could practice all day every day just to attempt cakes like those. Thanks for the link! I'll be in Orlando next weekend, and that shop is nearby ... maybe I'll go check out their store! If they're open, someone will have to pick my jaw up off the floor.
