I have an anniversary cake due on Sunday and I need HELP!! The colors are light blue (wedding color) and ruby (40th anniversary). I am at a total loss. The lady was wanting blue flowers and something in ruby. But all the ideas I can think of seem stupid (and thats not a good place to start). It is only twenty servings and the lady said "somethig simple" ... but I'm willing to do about anything. If anyone has pics of a cake using these two colors or ideas I would be indebted to you!!

Boy that is two totally different colors. How about the numbers in ruby..made from gumpaste and put little blue flowers at the bottom of the numbers. You know the ones that will stand up on top. Or if they are having a top, put them on the side of the cake.

I like Shelly's idea. Since it is such a small cake you can use a 10x2 round; an 8x12 sheet or maybe an 8x2 round w/a 4x2 round on top.
Make the #s in ruby like Shelly said....put toothpicks in the bottoms so they stand up. At this point to get them to dry quickly, turn the oven on to the lowest temp you can....leave for 10 minutes while you work on making the #s; **TURN OVEN OFF**; put #s on cookie sheet & put into oven.
Leave in there w/the light on for an hour or so. Put a note on the oven door or the knob so you don't forget & turn the oven on!
You still have time to make some simple blue flowers....use the recipe for Air-dried flowers and let them sit ovenight (or all day).
Ice cake and get it completely ready - bottom border; witing etc; place flowers & #s in the a.m. just before needed.
