I am looking for a sturdy yellow cake or pound cake recipe to carve into a lamb for Easter. The one I have is a little on the dry side. Any suggestions?

Really any pound cake will do. You know a pound of sugar, a pound of flour a pound of butter......

What you really need to do is not over bake the cake and then make a simple syrup wash. One part sugar to one part water heated up in a saucepan until the sugar disolves. Then add flavoring or a liquor to the syrup such as vanilla or kalhua etc. to taste. Then using a pastry brush, brush your whole cake! Flash freeze for a bit, six hours or so and then frost as usuall. HTH
