I know this has absolutely nothing to do with cake decorating but as everyone on this site is so nice, I thought I'd ask. My husband and I are thinking of moving to Clear Lake and I wondered if anyone from this website lives there. If so, could you tell me something about it? Good schools, neighborhoods, communities, etc.? My husband works there now but we don't know anything about the area in terms of where to look for homes. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

Clear Lake is an awesome community. I teach cake classes there and live a few minutes away from Clear Lake. I've grown up and lived in this area my whole life. I can't advise you about homebuying but can reassure you that the school districts are great, as is the shopping, and of course, living on the coast is pretty awesome. There's a Houston cake club you can join and we have several really great cake supply shops that are somewhat local. Houston is a huge metropolis so "somewhat local" may be way far for you if you're coming from a small town or city. icon_wink.gif

And if you're into saltwater aquariums and reef tanks, we have a wonderful reefkeeping club too. icon_biggrin.gif

Hi jjandascog,

You will love Clearlake, I have sisters and family that live there. I visit every year in the wintertime...can't stand the summer heat lol

I am hoping that someone will have a DOS while I am there this year icon_cry.gif .

Good luck and let me know if you find any good cake supply stores.

I live in West Houston now and have been to Clear Lake before...I lived there for a year when I was very young. I'm sure I'll love it. We have just never been there except to do tourist stuff so we don't know where the nice areas are to look for a house. We have a 1st grader and a pre-schooler so we are hoping that this move will be a good decision for them in terms of schools. We are supposed to go look around this weekend but have no idea where to start.

Hi jjandascog,

My sister and her family live on Stonehaven Drive, my other sister lives on Ramada Drive. They are about five minutes from each other. The schools are within walking distance from their houses. I know that there is a golf course across the street from the one on Stonehaven. Also, there is a new Cul de sac that is about four or five years old. If you would like, I could get some information from them and let you know.

Stephanie,

That would be great! We really need to know what areas and what neighborhoods we should be looking at. I don't want to waste a whole day driving around and not finding the nicer areas. My husband has been getting info from people at work but you know how men are...I'm not getting much from him.

I will call her later tonight because it is late when she gets home...works with Child Welfare and sometimes have to do late home visits.
