that's very elegant yodasmom. I like it -- not childish at all (for being Mickey Mouse).
Here's mine: http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1915339
after I worried and planned this for 2 months I was so excited that it came out as good as it did. I was up 5:30 am Monday to post my picture on CC. and nothing. I was so dejected that I swore off this site for awhile. But I'm back needing advice & research and that's how it goes. I now comment on more photos 'cause I know how it feels. and not just the glowing admirations for the beautiful carefully photographed cakes by pros, but for the everyday baker's cake for mom's birthday.
alfiefiesmom, beautiful cake, thoes peppers look good enough to eat (love hot peppers)
this was my firs book cake, did`t come out the way i pictured it but i dont think it was bad
Hello Everyone!
This is my first time making a quilted fondant cake. I had to use a ruler and an angled ruler. This was no picnic to do. I truly applaud everyone who does this. Is there an easier way to do the whole cake? I have one of those small plastic mats, I haven't learn to master that thing either . Would it be easier to use the cutter? Sorrry, I'm just stumped! TIA

It's very pretty! You did a great job!
Thanks so much kathys90! It took me a while to get this right, I rolled the fondant out 3 times. This will be another technique I'll have to practice, practice and practice again to get faster at it. Happy Caking!
This was one of my favorite cakes, I was really happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for taking the time to look. I appreciate any comments or constructive criticism. Thanks in advance!!
This is my newest cake, I am very new to CC but I really like the site I have noone who speaks "cake speak" at my house so I thought this site would help me get some of my thoughts out. Anyway, I was very very proud of this cake this is only my second stacked cake and my 1st 3 tier cake i thought it looked very nice for Mardi Gras, but only a few views, some of my family was impressed others not so much. I appreciate any and all comments or critisism.

Thanks again,
I've seen this post up on the front page a couple of times and was too shy to post up! Alifesmom I totally understand where your coming from!! I came on CC to get support and criticism from all types of cakers and have received little of either!! I really have considered leaving CC but what can I say I'm addicted to this site for some reason..
I did take the time to go through a lot of cakes on this post and I think they are all extraordinary!!!! It takes so much time and patience to be a cake decorator and I applaud everyone for taking on this task, GREAT JOB!!!
Any who, These are the cakes I feel i've done the best on and went unnoticed

Wow! There are some amazing cakes that have been so overlooked! Is there a better time to post a cake than others?
Here is a cake I did last week. It took me three days (I should say nights, I work two other jobs during the day) and I was surprised there were no comments! But the cake I posted that took 4 hours made the top faves? It was a simple 8" round, go figure?
Anyway, here it is, for what it's worth. I am very proud of it.

I know what you mean yodasmom with in minutes of me posting my truck this weekend there were many many more cakes. But that is the reason I love this site. No matter your skill level you are welcome here and so are your photos. I love the support I get and the knowledge I gain. I could have never accomplished this cake without it: http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1971046
I made this for my daughter, it was the first time I tried pleating. I actually hot glued the cake board to my cake taker, so she could carry it with her, without it sliding around.

Beautiful cakes. I made this cake a while back and got rave reviews and now since I am starting this as a business have had a request to make it but since I did not charge I am not sure what to charge.. the bag is about 3/4 of a sheet cake stacked with fondant/gumpaste panels held together with white chocolate. The shoe is gum paste with a sugar jewel and the shoe box is a a small square cake cut in half and stacked. The handle and the lettering are fondant as well. It took about 10 hours over several days for all pieces but that could be because I am new and slower too.. any suggestions on price would be appreciated.

I always thought that for it being my first wedding cake, and my first cake ever made, I did a damn good job! I felt like it wasn't up long enough for CC friends to have a good look.
Have one now

I just cant wrap my arms around this topic...the time you spend on a cake..even if you make it and hold down a full time job ( as i do) doesnt matter if it is not the viewers"cup of tea"...I spent days on a trombone cake and case for my niece...thought it would blow everyones socks off....not everyone plans on making a trombone cake...it got the notice it deserved...you move on...it just amazes me how cakers that get 50 favs and 35 comments for example, think it needs to be under our nose again!
This one is falling in the un-noticed abyss and, no, Im NOT WHINING about it. I probably over like this cake because I absolutely love the movie, How To Train Your Dragon. Toothless is the most adorable animated creature made in a long time. The movies music is lovely and the story very cute. So even if you dont like my cake, go rent How To Train Your Dragon on Amazon or iTunes. You wont be disappointed.

There are 100's of cakes posted every day and often the home page changes so quickly you don't even see them, not to mention if you work and don't get on here that often so I thought it was a nice way for people to share those cakes that they worked so hard on with the rest of us that might not otherwise see them. If you don't like the thread you don't have to read it. I like to go through this thread to read the stories that go along with the cakes as well. I thought sharing was what this site was all about.
this one zipped by the front page yesterday..

I agree, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this topic, Evertime I try to look at the cakes on the home page, They change so fast you don`t get a chance to look at the cake, you were trying to see. Its a GREAT way to see the cakes people worked so hard on.

So don't read this thread, or look at the cakes. I love looking and I hope people keep adding to this thread. (said nicely)
