Mckaren, your cake was very classy - and I said that on the comments. That rude comment was out of line. icon_sad.gif

Ok, are you kidding me? She has one Wilton Course 2 like cake posted...don't take anything SHE says to heart! Your fondant work blew her out of her "boring" water! I am sorry, people are SO rude!

I always wonder about rude comments like that on cakes, like, does the person maybe know who you are and has a grudge for some reason, and wants to give you a hurtful little jab? Or maybe it is a prankster who likes to occasionally pop into CC to be mean and leave rotten comments on peoples' cakes just for a hoot (kind of like internet graffiti)? Was the person just up late one night looking at cakes after a few cocktails and feeling belligerent...IUI Internet Under Intoxication? Something definitely doesn't add up.

I definitely don't get it, but the bottom line is if you ever get something inappropriate like that, a) look at the user to see if it's a legitimate CC member which this clearly isn't (only one post and one cake, that's it, both of them were 2 years ago), and 2) PM a moderator to see if the comment can be removed. I don't know if they can do that but it's worth asking; clearly it was just meant to be hostile, not helpful, and it has no place in any CC'ers comments!

Egad now that I've written this perhaps I myself can look forward to a few rude retaliatory comments on my cakes icon_confused.gif

Thanks ladies. I wasn't completely happy with it myself because the top tier got pressed up against the inside of it's box on the way to the wedding and it had a flat bit with a faint imprint icon_mad.gif But you've all made me feel much better. I love this site!!!

I'm really stretched for time lately and don't have much time to leave many comments but the cakes posted on this thread are fantastic! It's amazing to see the variety of talent in one place.

i love that this thread was restarted. on that note, i'm not sure if everyone does this, but it makes it so much easier to search pics if you tag your photos w/ lots of description. does that make sense lol? i have searched so many times for inspiration, not able to find something- and then come across something perfect after the fact b/c my search words didn't match those of the creator. cc is just such a fantastic tool and everyone is so talented, that it may help others get views while helping those who are looking for ideas. just a thought icon_wink.gif anyhoo, here's my latest fav, it was so hard for me to part w/ him lol!

Image

and the link just in case that's easier. tfl!

I agree. I can understand constructive criticism and sometimes I wish people would tell me a little more truth along with the good things ( lol I KNOW i am not very good!!! But I am trying!). But just to say what was said was not very helpful. Besides it was a simple cake very well done, not everyone wants/likes/needs all the bells and whistles.

As stated above I know most of my cakes are not great! lol But this is probably my fav. Done for my little bros birthday, took forever! The comments that I got were very sweet, thank you to those ladies!

jwong -- I'm laughing. I know what you mean. After spending days on a cake, sometimes I miss them when they go, too. This guy is so cute that it would be really hard to let somebody take him away!

And Alicia -- your farm scene is amazing! Love the haystack!

I think that a lot of the best cakes don't get saved into many faves just because they're so amazing and difficult. As a hobbyist, I end up saving things that I think I might actually be able to do someday, or techniques I want to try. Some are so far beyond my reach that I think, "wow, that's never gonna happen" and move on. I love this thread, but I hope you all don't feel down when a cake doesn't make it into the all-time faves -- that doesn't mean that it's not a masterpiece.

Merissa,

Your golf bag cake was GREAT! Nicely done - and I think you made the golf clubs look very realistic.

Your shoe looks so good! BTW, you should add some key words so it is found in a search!

I made this carousel cake for my neices 6th birthday.
I don't think it even made it to the hamepage icon_sad.gif
I was so proud of it, mostly because I thought of it all by myself and I have yet to find a MLP cake similar to it.
Its hard sometimes to come up with orginal design with so many other great cakes out there, so when I do I'm really proud of myself.

Everyone's cakes are so great! I wish I could sit all day and look through the galleries but that would get me into big trouble! I did a snowboarding cake for a friend's husband last week and I guess it was when the homepage was frozen because it never appeared. I had a lot of fun making this cake! Thanks for looking!
