I recently built my website and I wanted to get the opinion of my CC friends. I have cake dummies so I will be adding more pictures very soon. I feel like it's missing something else but I just can't put my finger on it.

Take a look, www.simply-sweet-cakes.com and let me know what you think. All suggestions and criticism are welcomed.

TIA

Nice site, what I notice was: Capitalize the "c" carrot & coconut, your font is over lapping other words, and capitalize the "city & state".

Your website is great - you might want to check your font overlapping as previously mentioned. I also think the personal message is really well done. Customers like to have some knowledge of the person(s) they will be working with. Good luck with your business - you're well on your way!!
Your mum cakes are great - could be your "signature" cake. Happy Baking. icon_smile.gif

Great job! The feel of your site is nice, the flow, the colors, the music...one more thing to add...the word "compliment" should be spelled "complement" in your case.
Add more pictures as soon as you can, and good luck with everything!

ok Im gona be honest.....Im sure I'll get stoned....

I think its TOO personal for a business page.....maybe put up pictures of your shop and evennn you with some of your work....rather then personal things like your wedding, husband or home

did you make your own wedding cake and grooms cake too? Id put one of those maybe on your front page too

just my opinion! thumbs_up.gif good luck wiht business!

Thanks everyone...I think the fonts overlapping is due to the font that I chose may not be on everyones computer. There is a way to fix this but it may take longer for the pages to load. I'll check it out tonight and see if the difference is noticeable.

Your website is very nicely done and I wish you the best in your new business venture. As a customer, I would enjoy being able to see a larger picture of the cake. I have no idea about designing websites, but is there a way where someone could click on the picture for a larger view (to see more detail)? I also like the way the pages fade in and out.

Good luck, Kari

The problem with the fonts is that you are assigning a fixed text size as can be seen in the following code from your site.

<div id="e7" style="position:absolute;left:114;top:4;width:325;height:98;">

<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="325">
<tr>
<td nowrap height="98" valign="bottom"><span class="text"><font face="Edwardian Script ITC" size="7"><span style="font-size:75px;line-height:89px;">Simply Sweet<br soft></span></font></span></td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>

On top of that I would give your site a title - replace the "blank" with "Simply Sweet Cakes"

<html>
<head>
<title>Blank</title>

Along with everyone else, I love the colors. You do need to tell a little something about your company and location. And there is something a little up with the navigation on the fillings, took me a minute.

But I think that it looks great and the best of luck to you!!!

My 2 cents: Take out the visitor counter. That is really not in the "professional" sites anymore.

There is a lot of overlapping and it seems kind of cluttered; too much info on one page. icon_cool.gif HTH.

I like it! My only suggestion is that you make the menu words a little large on the left side of the homepage, the ones that say gallery, ect... They seem a little small for the page and a little hard to read. thumbs_up.gif

Okay so I read comments, look at the site, then came back & reread comments again--over all i liked it alot, i do agree & disagree with some of the comments madeso heres my view after looking at & reading others comments

I love the site, very elegant looking, Im not having any font trouble, but I also dont hear any musichaha, I love the fade thing & all. Not sure what others mean by overlapping, maybe Im not seeing that either

So as stated, capitalize the Cs, fix the word complement

What Im not sure about is--About Simply Sweet, I wonder if instead of a link to the pictures of you & your hubby & the house, you should just have one picture of you & your hubby on the page w/out the link & not have the house ( if your shop is in your house maybe some more info on the business & a picture of the kitchen, maybe, but if it isnt I wouldnt have a picture of the house (but again if that where the business is, I guess I could understand) My opinion about the counter is that if you want it, make it smaller. My tabs show you as blank, so I understand what someone was talking about there, Id change that also icon_biggrin.gif

I will say that theres something about the flavor page that I cant put my finger onoh wellregardless of all Ive said, I do love it & if you didnt change anything (but errors) its great

so I totally hope I didn't come across as rude, b/c that totally wasn't my meaning at all

I find the font difficult to read. Even though there is a subtle difference between the upper and lower case letters, unless you really pay attention, all the letters appear uppercase.

I really like the way you broke down your flavors into basic and premium flavors. That gives an immediate indication that the pricing is different for the premiums.

Very neatly organized, clear and easy to read.

Good Luck!

Nice site. Do dump the counter, if you want the info see if it can be hidden. It would be nice to be able to click on the photos to get a closer, bigger view. Love the fade in and out. The font overlap is distracting, but not a huge problem, really. Welcome to the business world and good luck.

I like your sight, however your "About..."is too wordy. I would remove the personal pictures. maybe just a picture of yourself. I think you should use a picture of your own cake on the home page instead of the one from "Premier Bride". It would flow with the other cakes on your site. Overall I think it is nice. I think the counter should be removed as well.

I think the site is pretty, and I love the back-ground you have used.

I do have a few suggestions.

You can do without the counter.

If you register you site with Google Analytics and you can get all possible information about the traffic on your site.

Not just number of visitors , but things like pages visited, time spent on the site, which pages are not that popular ..... lots and lots of data. They have graphical representation too, telling you about New/Returning visitors/ Location/ Source. And it's free. I use it on my web-site, and it is fascinating.

Also, the title as mentioned earlier. That's a quick fix.

The fade-in, fade-out is pretty, but maybe you can change the timing so that it is clearer.

And, the personal message is very nice, but if you change it to lower-case, and a pretty font, in my opinion, it will be much better. Also the link to the pictures could be just on a key-word, maybe "dreams" not to the whole sentence.

I hope you don't think I am being picky or rude.

All the best in your new venture!
Karen

When I go to your site the links are overlapping the writing on the home page. Maybe it is just my settings. Otherwise it is very nice and user friendly!
