I am a beginner cake decorator. I live in Wisconsin. I have read that it is illegal to sell any baked goods out of your own kitchen. Is this true everyong? How does anyone get started?? I have no money to put into opening a shop. I would like this to be a part-time job. Any advice on how I could go about that? Thanks.

Yes it is true. In wisconsin you need to be licensed to sell cakes. When I decided to sell my cakes I went to a local coffee shop and asked them to use their kitchen. I don't have money for my own shop either. You can also ask your church. Mainly anywhere that has a commercial kitchen that is inspected by the state. I pay $10.00/hour or $70.00/day, which ever is less.

I hope this information is helpful....
