Has anyone ever colored the MMF black? Would it be easier to spray the color on. I need to make a black baby grand piano out of mmf and it needs to be black. Any suggestions?
Since black is a very hard color to get, the only suggestion I have is to use Americolor in black to color your MMF .... I'm not sure on the spraying of MMF and how that would effect it.
Americolor is the only coloring that is actually black and not grey or purple (IMO). If you have an airbrush you could color the MMF black and if you want it "blacker" you could airbrush it with Americolor black (for airbrushes). I would not recommend the stuff in the spray can by wilton! it will glop on and leave spots. Chances are an airbrush is not available (too expensive!!!) so just use the americolor super black!
I made MMF black by using the wilton color paste, but I only needed small amounts & it DID use a lot more color paste then the other colors. It turned out black enough, but if I was doing a larger amount, I dont think I'd use that same color paste again. It was just way too much work to get it really black. Hope that helps!
Hi - there is an online shop in the UK http://www.squires-group.co.uk/cgi-bin/TLSstore.cgi/ that sells their own colours - they have somthing called extra black - and it really is! It works very well for me
