Help- I am going to try and bake the 3-d bear cake by wilton and all I hear are horror stories from people saying they never turn out. The instructions said to use 1/2 pound and the other half regular cake mix. Please if any one has tips I could use them.
I've heard make sure you follow the cooling instructions to a tee, and that a pound cake recipe works best.
I have made the sports ball cake (3-D cake) and it said to use either a pound cake or reduce the oil in a regular cake to 1Tablespoon which i have done twice with success. It makes the cake slightly firmer, but really good still.
I have only used the 3d Garfield and the sports ball pan so I have limited experience here but both mine turned out fine using a cake mix with pudding already in it. I followed the directions to the T about how to bake and how to cool it. I have read some of the cake disasters lately so you might want to use a pound cake if you like that texture.
Hope that helps!
