I Just Got Pearl Mold To Make Edible Pearls

I put them in a small plastic bag with silver luster dust and shook them. They look ok, but I thought they would be more silver. I'm I doing it right?
I couldn't believe this little rubber thing was almost $20 but it's till less than buying them already made.
Why are you using Silver and not Super Pearl ? You need to "buff" them.
I always use Super Pearl.. is your mold Blue, like rubbery ?
If you're trying to do silver, you can do two things to make it appear more silver. The first is to make the fondant - or whatever you're making the pearls with - a light gray-blue color. Then, mix a tiny bit of pearl into your silver luster dust. Either one by itself helps a little. Combining the two "tricks" helps a lot! I find that I get a more metallic color when I paint it on...or brush it on dry...than I do when I roll it in the dust. The brush seems to "buff" it somehow.
Hope this helps.
Definitely do what Crimsicle says, coloring the fondant helps and adding pearl to the silver color also. But I dust the mold with the pearl/silver color and then mold the pearls, they come out nice and it saves time.
Thanks for your replies.
It is blue and rubbery.
I feel stupid not to think to color the fondant.
I will try all the suggestions
Definately color the fondant a light shade of grey. Dust the mold with the super pearl. You can also paint the pearls afterwards. They will take a while to dry when you paint them so be careful if you are going to place them on the cake in a strand.
