I ordered one from ebay earlier this month. It came with a 6 mo warranty on it, they will exchange it if needed. I think I'm going to have to take them up on that. It works okay, but it is really loud and "sickly" sounding. The most disturbing is that the paddle has left a grayish tint to the cake mix and the RI I made in it. What's up with that? I just haven't called on it yet.

I've had mine almost two years with no problems.
From what I understand KA will repair/replace the mixers, even the refurbed ones, if there is a problem. Janice

I did not buy a KA refurbished, but I just wanted to tell you that when my KA was new, I had that same problem with the paddle leaving a grayish tint to my buttercream icing. I adjusted a screw because the paddle was hitting the bottom of my bowl, kinda where it peaks up a little? If that makes sense. Anyways, that took care of my problem, maybe it will help with yours.

Sounds like the paddle has been washed in the dishwasher. I made that mistake....once! I had to spend some time rubbing all the grayish deposit off with one of those fiber dish scrubbing sponges. The gray even came off on my fingers! Once it was clean, I hand-washed only, and no more gray.

I got a refurbished one from amazon for my birthday this year. My parents got it for me and said they paid like 150 or 175 for it (with the 30 discount when you sign up for the visa) And I think free shipping at the time! DEAL! I think the retail on it was around 450. It is the professional 5 plus version. I love it, it looked completely new in the box and has worked just fine since june. I put my paddle in the dishwasher and havent had a problem. It is coated with white, I dont know what others are coated with. my instructions said you could put the paddle and dough hook in dishwasher but not the whip. HTH!
