i would really like some opinions about whether i should use the fuchsia ribbon on this wedding cake or not!!

brides color is fuchsia pink, i have been waiting for the ribbon to come in the mail and only just now put it on my dummy version, the more i look at it the more i like it but what do you all think?

i will email a pic to the bride as well so she can let me know too....

do i go dainty or add a bit of color to it..

also the tiers will be 5 to 6 inches high so the ribbon and large lilies should balance out on the actual cake...

thanks

Yes!

The ribbon really sets off the cake. It pulls all of the pink hues from the lilies out and makes them pop.

I like the color of the ribbon, but I find that it's a little too thick...

what do you think?

Maybe that's the hesitation that you find in your heart??

I'm voting for without the ribbons . . . I agree that the ribbons make the cake pop, but I prefer a bit more subtle. I think the flowers and all the other accents are already spectacular that the ribbons aren't necessary. Don't get me wrong - they look good, too, but it is probably a matter of taste - it would just be too much "pop" for me, but I tend to like understated.

Aloha Kylie,
My honest opinion is that I would go with a soft silver to compliment the other decorations. The flowers are so stunning, I think the ribbon is a little over powering. It is going to be a beautiful cake which ever way you decide.

thanks guys, i like the ribbon too, now its on there..

risque, i think your right about it being thick but with the high tiers that the real cake will have i think the ribbon will be ok and wont look so chunky...

I vote for the pink ribbon. The first picture I was like "oh that's pretty" and the second picture was more like "wow, that's really pretty". I think that width will look great if the tiers are going to be so high.

I think the ribbon is a bit overpowering. Of course, simple is usually better to me. It's pretty both ways. But I really like how the flowers pop against the white cake without the ribbon.

I would opt for another ribbon. This ribbon makes the cake seem overwhelming IMHO. HTH. thumbs_up.gif

well i just emailed the bride a pic of both ways, so i guess the final decision will be hers, but i really appreciate everyone's opinions....

i just really want to stress that the actual cake is going to have really high tiers (5 to 6 inches) so i am confident that if she wants the ribbon it will not look so thick and bold once it is on the real cake...

If the bride is unsure about the pink ribbon, do you have silver ribbon? I like superstar's suggestion . . . maybe you could try that and send it to the bride to check out, too. Either way, the cake is truly beautiful! It would keep the subtle colors, bring out a bit of the silver, but add the "finishing" of the ribbon that is so nice.

looks fantastic either way.
Without the ribbon it looks more elegant, with the ribbon it looks more funky. It will depend on what look the bride wants. Can't wait to see the real thing!!!

I usually am on the plain side but when i just glanced at the pics( and they say first opinions are the best) the ribbon popped out at me screaming . That is the way to go in my opinion. It set the cake off. Like I said I usually like it plain but not this time. Good Luck

thanks Val

i wont be in a hurry to make them again, god they gave me heaps of grief when i was trying to wire them together... i kept thinking they were going to break. letting them dry longer did help alot aswell as taping around the base of each petal.... i do love my hot glue gun though....(shhhh don't tell anyone. icon_wink.gif )

The ribbon is stunning.

The cake without it is also beautiful - so I guess the call would have to be made by thinking about the decorating stlye of the bride.

Does her dress have simple lines or some flair?

Are they using ribbons on the flower arrangements?

My personal taste is to put the ribbon on - as so many here have stated.

Your cake will be a winner either way.
