I was thinking about using this recipe for a cake this week and I was wondering if it crusts, so that I can use the roller method on it for a nice smooth looking cake? I have never used either so it is going to be a first time for both. Thank in advance.

Yay! Finally a question I can answer. LOL
I just asked this too because I was looking for a new buttercream recipe. yes, it does crust and quite well. You should be able to use the roller with no trouble. icon_smile.gif I used a viva towel and it was nice and smooth.

This is def my new buttercream recipe. I do NOT like buttercream and I hate the Wilton class recipe but this I actually liked and can eat. It's really very good. I'm glad I tried it.
All of you about to try it, have fun with your new found recipe! icon_biggrin.gif

Here is the link:
http://cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-2123-Buttercream-Dream.html
This is the only one I use and I get tons of compliments on the taste!!
I find that it takes mine a little longer to crust, but it will.
You can make this a few days in advance if you need, it keeps well and I think it taste better after a day of two!
Good luck!!!

I have used whipping cream in place of the milk, and I have also used the Coffeemate creamers!! Either works well.

I'm no expert on this buttercream recipe lol but in the description she said she used one of each for the sweetness/unsweetness factor. (Unsweetness? Is that a word? lol) If I were to answer you, I would say it's personal preference to use only unsalted butter. If you try that, let us know how it comes out. icon_smile.gif
