I Need A Very Creative Idea For A Superbowl Cake.

My best customer (2 cakes already!) wants a cake for a superbowl party. The standard ideas (football cake, stadium cake, etc...) make him cringe, and he says, "Think outside the box!". So he wants an artsy cake to impress a bunch of theater folks who probably don't give a flip about the superbowl anyway...

And he says the sky is the limit for price.

So if anyone has an idea, hit me with it. I like a challenge, and I have a nice lead time to get a fancy cake made.

Good morning,
How about a marquee within a theater anouncing
"now showing SUPERBOWL"
Perhaps a tier cake with many movie icons, reels of film, candy, playbills, with draping like the velvet curtains of the old theaters.
Or a tier with the drapes and then a marquee with the anouncement of "Superbowl"
Good luck and I hope you get more suggestions.
Don't forget to post...

How about a close up of the teams "floating logos" facing off on centerline with "Superbowl XLI" across the bottom...

Oh....and maybe a pair of those front row $4000 tickets lol! Wonder what they get on ebay for those lol???

without costume malfunctions? icon_eek.gificon_biggrin.gif

Another thought is a focus on the commercials.

Maybe you could cut a sheet cake into helmets and make the opposing teams on each one... butt them up against one another like they're going "head on" with each other ... good luck!!

hmmm, interesting quandary you find yerself in there hun. hmmmm,.........well there are all those commercials that they air during the game. maybe you could do something with those you know like the "bud bowl" where "bud light" and "budweisers" are duking it out on a field. Instead of "beer" you could have characters dressed as shakespearean actors vs. movie stars or something like that. Have it on a sheet cake (a big one) and use fondant to make it look like the curtains are parting to reveal the action on stage. which is decorated like a football field. with the suggested players, as it were. hmmmm, just a thought.

Hmmmm... wonder where my other replies went... ?
My computer is old, I guess he ate them.

Anyway, here's a follow-up:

My boss eventually decided that he hates his friends and doesn't want to spend a lot of money on them - so he asked me to make a cake worth $30 and he'll be happy. I meant to keep it simple, but I overdid it - but not by much. I'm makiing a 1/4 sheet cake with the superbowl logo, the team names and gumpaste goal posts. I'll post a picture to the gallery tomorrow.

In the meantime, my other boss (I have two, lucky me) decided that the first boss NEEDS a tacky awful Prince cake as a joke, and I have been hired to make a gaudy prank cake to deliver to the party and pretend I misinterpreted his request. I have almost finished it, and it is painfully cheezy. And you bet it'll be in my photos as well!

Oh, and I screwed up the Colts logo and made it white with blue outline. Oh well! They can serve that piece first!

Thanks for the help and the great ideas!!! Pics coming tomorrow.

I've been busy with kiddo stuff, so haven't been online to check the msg boards. I did a couple hamburger cakes for my best friends party. They are a great idea for bbq parties too. Labor Day, Memorial Day, etc. For future reference. Sorry you didn't get a lot of responses.....

no no no... I meant MY replies! I posted comments to several people since I put up the original post, and they all got eaten!

I'm so sorry - I didn't mean to sound sarcastic! Most of the time I type out a post, hit "submit" and my internet browser crashes. (My computer turns 10 this year.)

I put the pictures up in my gallery for anyone who wants to see them.

Again, I'm so sorry that my previous post came across wrong!

And I meant to add a thank you to everyone who gave me ideas! If my budget hadn't been cut to $30, I could have really made one awesome cake!

Thank you!!!
