A friend of mine called and said her mom's neighbor had this "big" mixer that she wanted to get rid of and wanted to know if she knew anyone who could use it..... HELLO!!!! ME! ME! ME!
She delivered this beast to my house last week and I have cleaned it up and used it already. I did 32 cups of powdered sugar for the icing...and the bowl was still only 1/2 way full!!! YIPEE!!
(I couldn't get a good picture, so I downloaded one from another site. I also saw the exact same Hobart mixer for sale on Ebay for $1,000. From my understanding Kitchen Aide is a subsidiary of Hobart...or the other way around).
Wow, 'monster' is right!! That sucker is HUGE!!! How wonderful for you to get that, go stick a bow on it real quick!
I recently kind of got a freebie too - my good friend is out of the cake business as of last month when she married off her last daugher - so she gave me most of her Magic Line pans, to "store" for her. I bought a few to fill in, and now have a great assortment of round and square, all ML!!!
It was so hilarious, her 'borrowing' her own pan last week for a cake she wanted to do! Then she brought it back! Gotta love a friend like that.
Cheers all, and Merry Christmas,
your gonna love it I bought mine for the price of a KA a former co worker had one and thought I might like it so he asked and I bought it for $375 you can make icing in no time instead of having to plan a days work doing it. Congrats nice christmas present there not cheap to buy.
As tempting as it may be you can't carry it around with you 24/7
Wow, you must be on clouds.
Very cool! I love Hobarts! I used to use Hobart floor standing mixers when I worked in a restaurant. Man it'd be great to have one of those!
Enjoy yours!
Amy
What a fabulous gift she has given you, one you will use and remember for the rest of your life. I hope you plan on making them lots of free cakes now. You are partially correct, KA was a subsidiary of Hobart and if this mixer has the Hobart label on it you have an excellent quality piece of machinery. The newer mixers put out by KA today are not the same quality. I understand their customer service is still excellent, but I had my original Hobart KA for over 30 years before handing it on to my daughter, who is still using it 20 years later and it has never even been serviced. I bought a K5A a few years ago as a backup mixer, within 3 months the metal ring around the housing fell off and the plastic speed knob broke in half and fell off.
Use one that size and one larger at work every day. Would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have one at home!!! Congrats on your newest toy. I think we are all a little jealous Have a wonderful Christmas!!!
OOOOOH! I am jealous! I have been looking for a big ole Hobart mixer....I wish I had a friend like that, too. You really will have to make her freebies for a long time!
Merry Christmas to you!!!!
that is awesome....enjoy your new toy!!!
i do have to admit that i am mildly jealous.....hmm....where do you live again?
So Happy for you! She's a treasure! I think I would "giggle" everytime I crank up that baby.
