icon_smile.gif My neighbor's oldest son is turning the proverbial "16" on Sunday....she has just called me to order his cake, nothing in particular, a double layer sheet with bc in the middle, any color, any style.
I would love to see any ideas you have, any pics of cakes that you have made to get an idea of what a young man's cake looks like, rofl....anything! icon_smile.gif
HELP! I have not done very many 'male' cakes......what is something neat and interesting for a 16 yr. old guy? THANKS! icon_biggrin.gif

He is turning 16, I take he is a high schooler. Find out with your neighbor if he is into any kind of sports, and make a sport themed cake. I think that makes it easier. Or if he likes a particular band, you can create the band logo.
My step-son is also 16, and I would try sports for him, I know he would like.
Sorry for my lack of more ideas. I hope that can help. Good Luck!! icon_biggrin.gif

I just did my sons 16th birthday, and just did a very plain cake. he couldn't tell me one thing he wanted besides chocolate with buttercream.

Lots of help, I know, but....

what about making his cake look like a driver's license? When my son turned 16, even though he was totally into sports, he was more into learning to drive. I don't have any pictures but you could use a real license to get ideas.

If he's interested in music, like the majority of 16 year olds, maybe a guitar... or drums.

I just made a cake for my neighbors son turning 16. She said I could do anything I wanted. He just wanted a cool cake like I had made her once before. "One you can't buy in the store," he said. Great having freedom and this website with great ideas! I made him the mummies head, posted on Coraellen website June 6 2007. I made pic's of bats ghosts a cat and a moon sticking out of his head. They loved it when I dropped it off. I charged her 35.00 and she gave me a 10.00 tip. Love it when people appreciate my work! icon_biggrin.gif

I think that's an awesome idea, since you probably don't want to make him a boobie cake (that's what all sixteen year old guys are really into). icon_evil.gif

Seriously, though, I think the driver's license is a great idea.

what about a funky/ retro design. i personally love abstract art so using shapes and color shading appeals to me. what about using brown and a steal blue or torquoise those are my favorite colors. hope that gives you a different direction.
