This is a rant....I shouldn't rant because it's my fault!!! I feel so overwhelmed this week . WHEN DO YOU SAY NO MORE DONATIONS???
I'm doing a Radio auction Monday and tuesday night.....cakes donated for Rotary Club....then around 160 cupcakes for Weds. Then a cake for the auction at the school for friday PLUS the cake walk cakes!! I should of said NO NO NO...but I felt bad.... Donations are draining my already DRY pocket ....YEP it's my fault but everybody knows I can't say no.
Sorry...just had to get that off my chest LOL
Have a great night and I'll pull some more cc's out of the oven
Christi
I have an idea how you feel because I've been known to do that to myself on more than one occassion. Just try your best to get through this week and try to remember how you feel now in the future. Maybe you'll get lucky and won't put yourself in this position again.
HTH.
Oh, and don't forget to take a couple of deep breaths from time to time!! They can help also!
I have NEVER been so sick of looking at CC's in my life LOL , not to mention making BC!!!! UGGHHHh
Yep next week will be better...and I'll whine about something else LOL
I think there's a support group for us somewhere... LOL
This weeks donations... 250 hand decorated cookies wrapped and tied. cookies and cupcakes for my granddaughters school.
aye carumba!
yes, take a photo of your frazzled self and stick it up on the fridge. next time the phone rings asking for a "little" donation , just look at your picture. the "NO" will come out easily and painlessly. all the little donations can add up...most of the "askers" dont realize that everyone else and their uncles are asking for donations too. the most logical way to train yourself out of saying yes to everything is to straight up tell people you cant afford to give all this away for free. my logic is, free cake for you, or milk and diapers for my kids? or gas for my car or payment on the mortgage....hmmmm....yup, thats an easy choice. dont fret. i used to be a sucker too LOL, but it gets easier to say no as time goes on. just get through this week and slow down on the commitments. even close friends and relatives can at minimum cover the cost of your ingredients if you choose to donate your time- but then again, your time is valuable as well. so sometimes, its just flat out, OK to say no.
I had stopped doing donations completely at one point. then I got asked and it made me feel good...now I'm SICK ....well sick of the mess lol, and my checkbook UGH yuck....hmmm wonder where DH is hiding the money tree ????
I made myself only donate to 2 things. That's it. Unless it's something like special that I can't say no too. Like a coming home party for troops or Breast Cancer.
I donate only to my daughters Cheer banquet which is once a year and her school cake walk which is once a year.
It's really hard to say no but at some point you HAVE to draw the line or you'll never get out of the donating hole. If people know they can take advantage of you, they will. I even ask my friends to NOT tell everyone what I give them as a price. My IMMEDIATE friends and family a discount. Outside of that, everyone else gets my posted prices. That's it.
There is a local restaurant that has a sign posted stating the following (well as close as I can remember)
Due to the large amount of request for donations we are not accepting new request for donations. We currently only work with groups that we are familiar with in these towns (list selected towns).
If someone calls you can always answer "I am sorry all of the donation request for this year have been filled, please keep me in mind for next year"
