Can it be saved?

I baked my cakes last night....but when I used my cake tester before taking out of the oven...they deflated sort of right after I pulled out the tester!! It only happened in the middle of the cakes...and it's not really too bad, but it's gonna cause me to lose some of the height of the finished cake. Could I just bake another one and have one extra layer on top? This has never happened to me before.

Another idea is that i could just use the little "valley" to put more filling in - like this: cake bottom, then filling, then cake top, then more filling in the deflated part, then cake top (upside down) then filling the cake bottom (upside down)....I'm sure that probably doesn't make perfect sense, but maybe some of you more exprienced cakers can help me figure this out!! icon_confused.gif

THanks!

Jennifer
