Elmo layed to rest on Thurs 3:30 p.m. - Page 3

When I saw the after pic I wanted to cry!!! I have done a few of the 3D Elmo cake (but all in cake) and I know first hand how painful getting all that hair on really is!

Here's some tips about RKT that I learned from someone here on CC and they have been very useful.

* Crush up the RK a bit before mixing to minimize the amount of air/space.
* Use only 1/2 of the butter suggested in recipe.
* Use tons of pressure when making your shape.
* Leave your item dry for at least a day or more (I think someone already posted this tip).

Good luck next time! (and btw...I think our husbands must be related...for the longest time I thought he was just staying up while I worked on cakes bc he was such a great DH- lo and behold he was just waitin' around for scraps!)

LMAO~!! Perfect time for halloween ... did you let the marshmellos dry??

OMG, Poor elmo!! ...and I was just talking to you about elmo the other day! How long did you have your RK's in the fridge?? The only time mine have fallen apart is when I put them in the fridge.

I've done a RK elmo head before and it held up totally fine and even travelled for 1 hour for delivery, so I know it works. I was really happy with the RK head actually. It was light and stable and easier than carving styrofoam.

Okay, now that I've all but peed myself laughing at that horrible incident, let me say that it definitely looks like you just didn't pack it well enough. I'm like all4cake, I pound the crap out of mine to get it packed in good. I've been doing a lot of work with them lately and that really helps set it up.

Okay, I've gotta go look at that pic again. I think I'll save this for when I'm having one of THOSE nights and need a good laugh!!!

OMG I couldn't stop laughing at Elmo. You know how people like to put the cartoon characters that kids watch on their web pages doing naughty things? Well I could so see these pics up there because Elmo looked like he got a few too many drinks in him and puked all over the place.
Anybody with artistic ability can make a cake look beautiful, but it takes someone with the heart and soul of a "true baker" to get in the kitchen, bake from scratch, and make that cake taste good.

The second attempt is when I put his head in the fridge, but the pic is of him the first time. The second attempt he basically was deteriorating in front of my eyes so I yanked his head off and threw it in the trash lol. For some reason about 30 min after putting the bc on he became extremely soft!!

Oh it was tough to digest at first but tears soon turned to laughter. The toughest part is that I will find out next week if I have that carpol tunnel (spelling?). Omg my hand throbbed trying to get his fur on. It took forever.

Thanks for all the compliments on the elmo that was all in one piece....ok this one was def a learning experience lol. I would MAYBE one day like to try another. But I will def NOT put his head in the fridge, leave the eyeballs on the table so hubby can eat them. I WILL bang the crap out of the RKT, use less marsh and butter, let the RKT dry for a day or 2. And last but not least lock my bedroom door so that my son cannot tell me that elmo bit the dust. Thanks to you all once again for your help and suggestions. Your a pretty awesome bunch of people........and for all of you sitting in wet britches from laughter..time to go change them. lol

OMG! I wasn't expecting that second picture to look quite like that. What a disaster, but I have to say, I laughed harder than I have in a LONG time! (Not towards your mishap, but just the appearance of it all.) My first thought is that it did look like puked oatmeal.
My girlfriend was sitting next to me, and she said I'm vicious and cruel for laughing like that!
I'm so sorry Elmo fell apart. I hope you were able to repair him. He was adorable.. until the fatal accident.

Oh, that is the funniest thing I've seen in quite a while! when I've used RKT, I've let them set up at least a day, if not more, so they are very solid before I begin decorating on them. Good luck with your next try & thank you for giving me a good laugh!

I couldn't help but laugh out loud (sorry) when I saw the second picture, my husband turned around from his computer and said "What's that?" and I told him it was a rice krispy treat (he wouldn't have known what rkt was) Elmo and he said "Well, I guess he snap, crackled and popped"
That made me laugh even harder.
