ive bought some piping gel...i dont know why, i just saw people used it on their cakes and thought it was something handy to have. now comes the time where i may need to use it as blood....can you eat piping gel? is it nice or do you flavour it. i can honestly say it doesnt smell very nice! and can you colour it? if so with what...paste?

I have used piping gel alot. I have never flavored it, but it also does not take a lot to get the shiny, watery look you are going for. I personally don't think it smells very well either. I color it with the same paste that I use to color my icing. Hope this helps

you can eat piping gel, its what diary queen uses for the designs on the tops of their cakes. i personally dont really think it has a taste. There should be a way to flavour it, im not sure how though. I used it on the my little pony castle cake in my photos to create a water effect.

Yeah, it doesn't taste very good, but most kids don't mind it. Plus, as tdybear1978 said, you don't need very much for the effect. You can color it with any of your regular gel or paste colors. Be careful not too overbeat it or it will be full of bubbles. If that happens (and you don't want the bubbles) just press it through a sieve.

No, it does not smell good! : ) You can color it and then put in a decorating bag and snip off the end a little- you don't have to use a tip this way. Also, you can use it to outline something on parchment/wax paper and then apply it to your cake and fill it in that way. A little goes a long way!

OH, i thought i would also mention that it does not take much color at all to get what you want so start out with a very small amount at first.
